Tourism Australia says its controversial advertising campaign will be run in Canada later this month, despite some concerns with the word "hell".
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has recommended the "Where the bloody hell are you?" ad not be broadcast during family programs.
Tourism Australia managing director Scott Morrison says it is a reasonable request and minor issues like this are expected to arise as the ad is introduced around the world.
"We continue to work with the regulators everywhere to make sure we can run the campaign," he said.
"Tourism Australia will be launching the campaign to the China market today in Shanghai.
"There is a translation in subtitles for the campaign here in China which conveys the same sort of colloquial sense of friendly invitation."
Tourism Australia officials are spending the next two weeks selling the campaign to Asia.

Of course, gay 'marriage' is much more acceptable than saying "hell"...
Those Canadians are a very strange crew.

Probably because saying "Hell" implies the existence of a Hell, which implies the existence of God, and we certainly don't want that all over the airwaves, do we? (God forbid!)

Seems to me that "Bloody" was once considered a bit of an epithet in Canada.

this really surprises me when i have been offended by OTHER garbage they show on t.v. here. (i am an American living in Canada). my poor eyes almost popped out of my head one night when i turned on the news in Quebec about 2 minutes too early and there were bare boobed bimbos dancing across the screen. they show the Sopranos on reg. t.v. there. i think Bloody Hell will fit nicely with the programing. lol

The CBC is run by ultra-left liberals. Only several terms of Conservative governments can break their stranglehold, or a complete sell-off of the CBC.
Complete hypocrites!!!!!

I once watched CBC Newsworld which included a portion of relays from the BBC and the contrast was night and day. Even the Beeb sounds like a voice of reason when compared with the its former Canadian division.

CBC = Communist Broadcasting Corporation.
Its ratings are also abysmal, in line with specialty cable channels in most markets and far, far below the private networks.

Sounds like our Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Why the bloody hell Governments need to run television and radio stations in this day and age is beyond me!

What's the average temperature there?Detroit, MI fair to say. Outlying areas tend be a degree or two cooler.
Fickle weather in the spring. Even though it's been a real wussy winter, there will be a few sporadic ice storms in the next couple weeks.

Must have something to do with the campaign being launched during the Commonwealth Games. I note that the Poms and Canadians weren't too happy with the judging at the gymnastics. Hell, this must be payback for the gymnastics?

I was watching the synchronized diving this afternoon. The Canadian judges were openly cheating. They have no shame at all!
Despite this, the Aussies won another Gold...

I read a letter in the local newspaper this afternoon. The writer suggested that perhaps Channel 9 should play the national anthems of other countries as background music during the commercial breaks as all you hear at medal presentations is "Advance Australia Fair".
