Gov. Shwarzeneggar expected to make announcement on Tookie Williams Execution Clemency shortly according to Fox News.
Poor Tookie -- if it hadn't been for the recall, he would have had TWO chances at escaping his fate:
- Davis gives him clemency
- Power Failure
Sweet!
The old Arnold is back!!
tobyhill heard something about a 'secret witness' on Fox but he won't expound on it!
DENIED!!! by gov.
well.......alot of you guys were wrong wrong wrong.....Clemency denied......many here should give Arnold his due since many here lambasted him without giving any credit..well he came thru.....so suck it up and give Arnold credit......
I bet AHHNOLD sleeps on the sofa tonight.
Time to update title of thread
I don't think they're going to happen (here in L.A.). But I could be wrong.
We'll know shortly.
Asta Lavista, Baby!
The Ninth Circuit as ruled on this case before - against the defendent. This was another last-minute appeal, probably designed to sway to Governor.
Nothing has changed and Gov. will have the last word.
If past experience is any indictor, the Gov. will not have any kind of press conference or personal announcement. A written statement will be issued sometime between now and midnight PST.
I would guess it will be sometime in the late evening, to give the working class people in LA and Oakland a chance to get home alive.
You can bet your boots Reginald Denny left the city for the day.
...I can find no justification for granting clemency. The facts do not justify overturning the jury's verdict...
Look I have no problem with the Framers' action. As a Southerner, I fully support such a cause and still do to this day. The point I was replying to was the original poster supplied Romans 13 in the NIV version which when taken out of context would not support any dissent, which is false
Very good point. All the courts have spoken, and Arnold has clear guidance to deny clemency, but even with everything stacked in that direction -- there is now one undeniable fact, Arnold Shwarzeneggar will now decide whether a man lives or dies.
To me the decision is clear, but I do have to admit that I would still agonize over the decision.
Arnold is only human, and even with the support of all the courts and overwhelming evidence, it still comes down to him having the power over Tookie Williams life.
Except that no Christian rejoices in a soul being damned, but earnestly hopes and prays for their salvation. God himself states He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
While I see the necessity for the death penalty and agree with it, I take no pleasure or satisfaction in its being carried out
BREAKING according to the A.P right now....Arnold the RINO denies clemency....
I agree completely.
He dies tomorrow.
"...the facts do not justify overturning the jury's verdict or that of the courts." Gov Schwarzenegger.
And that frightens me.
You folks in California better head to wal mart and get some shotgun shells and extra ammo for your pistol.
It's gonna be a long night.
