(Rapper) 50 (Cent) calls Bush 'a gangsta' (Calls Bush 'Incredible,' Would've Voted for Him)

Posted on 11/28/2005 12:06:03 PM PST by nickcarraway

50 Cent and Kanye West are the only ones selected to be GQ's "Men of the Year" who have no false modesty about it — both of the hip-hop stars justify their big egos in the mag's pages. But they also have more on their minds than just themselves. Like George W. Bush, for one. 50 thinks the president is "incredible ... a gangsta." "I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him," 50 told GQ. If the rapper's felony conviction didn't prevent him from voting, 50 said he would have voted for Bush. Meanwhile, Kanye basically called Bush a racist on national television, and has since rethought his strategy for speaking out. "When NBC edited it out on the West Coast, that was a wakeup call," West told the magazine. "It let people know how censored we still are. This is supposed to be America, but you can't get your opinion out. There's all kinds of things I want to say, but I need to pace myself, to make sure my opportunities to say these things aren't taken away too abruptly."

"probably he see himself as enterprising and overcoming his demons to rise to the top of his art?"

I think you've hit on the answer. The struggle to overcome and rise above is something they both share.

I'm curious about why he would be a fan of the president, or does he just dislike Kanye that much?

He believes that freedom of speech means freedom from consequences.

What a nitwit.

I think he lives in the only Republican district of Connecticut.

He bought Tyson's old house...and threw a block party for all his neighbors, gave them bottles of crystal, and other gifts. According to him, he did this to reassure them that he was not a bad element...that he'd been reformed.

This might put a damper on the Dem push to get the ex con vote eligible in all states.

After his comments on Katrina describing it as an act of "God" rather than Bush's weather machine, and now this, it's getting rather tough not to like "Fitty".

You are right. Following the money.
These guys can't spell president. They have no idea what is going on in the political arena and can't point out Iraq on a map.
They are doing what there stylists and publicists tell them to do to advance their ratings. Much like most politicians...never what's good for the people, but what's good for I, me, and mine.

"When NBC edited it out on the West Coast, that was a wakeup call," West told the magazine. "It let people know how censored we still are....

We all have the constitutional right to speak our minds....however, t.v. doesn't allow for unlimited free speech by anybody....there are common decency laws, for example.

And what the Dixie Chicks said in another country about the President got plenty of air time in the U.S., just before their sales tanked.

I see your point, I really do, and I know that he meant it that way ... but Gangsta is still a misspelling of Gangster, and In my world, that would be an insult. But somehow in the knucklehead hip-hop world, having someone who sold crack from child hood up until he became famous for glorifying street crimes through rap, calling our President a "Gangsta" somehow seems wrong on many levels.

Still trying to figure out where 50 Cent identifies with Bush...

Hmmm...

Well, apparently, Canada doesn't like him: Liberal MP calls to ban rapper over gun lyrics That's one thing they have in common.

Sorry, that's the closest I can get. I'm stumped.

Maybe he's pro-Iraq war...?

Funny, before Kanye opened his mouth to talk, I would've thought he was conservative.
