just breaking!!!!!!!!
If you're going to vote for them no matter what they do, why should anyone care what you have to say?
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Thank you for Dr Coburn!!!
Strawmen. The opposition was based on the total lack of constructionist credentials and the conflicts of interest inherent in the nomination. Everything else was tangential.
Is anyone suprised to hear the left wing looney liberals, blaming us right wing zealots for her decision to withdraw her nomination? The libs got exactly what they wanted and would have likely have gotten by hook or crook, even had she been given her chance before the Judiciary committee. Thanks to our beguiled conservative brethern, the libs got a whole lot more than MS Miers withdrawing her nomination-they can now blame it all on us.
As for us, we may have in our ignorance, rejected the savior of unborn babies, that God sent in answer to our prayers.Only time and the next appointee to be confirmed, will tell.
Respect is earned, not hande4d out with your IQ score. She is certainly more educated than some, but that is not the same as being "smart".
Chaffee, Snowe, and Specter are NOT "middle of the road," they are left leaning.
She has very impressive credentials, but I imagine she would not make it out of committee since Specter has already said that both Brown and Owen would fail the "gang of 14"'s test for "extraordinary" if they were offered as a Supreme Court nominee.
Sorry about that. I just wanted to be sure someone would see it and let me know where I could read the speech and someone did. :-)
Now maybe Hugh Hewitt will withdraw
I'll say to you like I said to another who made that same statement. Look at the poll on FR, it's the majority Anti-Miers crowd who has been telling the minority, "let her have her day", that has been told to shut up. Go back over the billions of threads about her.
You think Reagan was elected by only the right wing?
Smear me if you need to to make yourself feel like a "real" conservative.
I disagree. I think the GOP capitulated to anti-Constitutional pressure when they voted to confirm a Justice that they suspected would "legislate from the bench."
Liberal presidents should be free to appoint liberals, and conservative presidents should be free to appoint conservatives. The only caveat is that they should be highly qualified.
They can nominate whoever they want. The "caveat" in all cases is that the Judge should follow the Constitution when rendering opinion and judgement from the bench.
The same crowd will be yelling for the next crucifixion if a strong Evangelical is nominated.
I've also seen "hyena" and, of course, "three-toed sloth" hurled out there.
And yet the alleged middle-of-the-roaders went balls-to-the-wall for the leftist Specter over the principled conservative Toomey. So any distinction between the two groups is a false one in practical terms.
So is your litmus test for a real conservative now somebody who has never been a Democrat, even if they've seen the light?
Yes, of course you're "allowed" to be disappointed. And yes, it's possible to continue supporting this or any president while having areas of disagreement with him. There are a number of policy issues I disagree with GWB on, starting with his proposal for a guest-worker program for illegals. But I will not ever disrespect him either as a man or as president. I will never abandon him. I will never speak of him in the manner I see used on these threads daily.
I recoil from and denounce the vitriol seen on these threads.
Thank you for the clarification.
As for the support of his "base", since the "he waved the white flag so he's a coward" crowd are already on this thread, I'll wait for the reaction to his next nominee. Whom I repeat for the thousandth time must accept the nomination. There's a big "if". So alleged Bush supporters who are only angry with him over his choice of Miers stand a good chance of being angry with him for being forced to choose another unpopular nominee if those ahead of him or her withdraw their names from consideration.
Another thing: I did not support Miers OR oppose her. I wanted to wait for the facts to come out and got seriously sick and tired of repeating over and over that we should wait until the HEARINGS before making judgements on her suitability in response to the baseless (at the time) accusations, claims she was only nominated because of her gender and chants of "withdraw this nominee now" which started on the day her nomination was announced. Accusations and baseless charges are hateful, evil things to do to a person. It's like framing someone for a crime they didn't commit.
