ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.
The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.
A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.
Developing...
UPDATE
ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.
More from Drudge:
CBS JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice presidents chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...
Another update from Drudge:
Indictments in CIA leak case about to be handed down
"For a prosecutor investigating leaks, he sure has a hell of a lot of leaks"
I do too:) I may have to check out Scarborough tonight though...just to see how they're going to close the night.
I sort of think the same thing, but if you're right I sure wish he would get this over with so the MSN can stop spinning this every minute of every day.
Either way, I'm joing Miss Marple's crusade!!
Well, as much as I like Napolitano, I doubt he knows whether the Grand Jury met today or not.
"double sourced"???
Oh brother........and I bet ABC also has a team of "double-knot spies" as well.
Your post 573...yes. May I add...$#$@#%$* ?
That's an oxymoron.
Amen to that one!
How are they to fit these parties in what with the 2000th Iraq death parties they are planning? What a busy week for a LIB
I think if either are indicted, that the prosecutors will be embarrassed in court.
An indictment will be to the advantage of Republicans once witnesses against anyone are made to be cross examined IMO.
I think in the long run this will greatly screw the Democrats and that is a good thing.
I agree with you about Kristol. I also look at Buchanan and Novack the same way. They are all disruptive and seemingly disloyal in a way that goes beyond just wanting to think their own thoughts.
To this day, I cannot fathom why Novack published his piece about valerie plame anyway. He knew only trouble would follow.
Exactly! In fact, if Rove or Libby are indicted, I'm looking at this as the perfect oppurtunity to get some of the truth out about this fraud. Unlike the Grand Jury, were these guys weren't allowed to present a defense, a trial will allow them to start calling their own witnesses...which should include people like Plame, Wilson and other media colaborators. I'm not a lawyer, but this would appear to be a good oppurtunity for Republicans to do their own investigation in defense of Libby and Rove...and at least expose some of the truth about what was going on. It's almost Rovian in its complexity.
You're dreamin
No, I'm wide awake.
If they are among Novak's sources, Rove and Libby have to share in some of that blame too.
"If Fitz is an honest DA, then you are correct.
If he isn't and intends to play to the media, then it really doesn't matter if he gets a conviction. All he needs to do is create the media impression."
Federal prosecutors are obligated to have sufficient evidence for a reasonable certainty of conviction- before bringing charges.
They can't do a Ronnie Earle and indict first and then gather evidence.
Despite what the media tells us daily- perjury and obstruction of justice are not that easy to prove.
Let us hope that during a time of war and in a post 9/11 world, Fitzgerald is not playing political " he said, he said " games.
IF the Republicans will fight....that is what worries me the most.
