XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE OCT 04, 2005 18:02:01 ET XXXXX
MIERS FOUND CHRIST, TURNED REPUBLICAN
By 1979, Harriet Miers, then in her mid-30s, had accomplished what some people take a lifetime to achieve. She was a partner at Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, one of the most prestigious law firms in the South.
But she still felt something was missing in her life.
The NEW YORK TIMES is set to splash the "something" on Page Ones on Wednesday, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
It was after a series of long discussions with Nathan Hecht, a junior colleague and sweetheart, that led her to a decision that many of the people around her say changed Miers life.
"She decided that she wanted faith to be a bigger part of her life," Hecht said. "One evening she called me to her office and said she was ready to make a commitment," to accept Jesus Christ as her savior and be born again, Hecht said. Miers became an evangelical Christian and began identifying more with the Republican Party than with the Democrats who had long held sway over Texas politics. Developing...

Colossians 1:15-17 (New American Standard Bible)
15He is the (A)image of the (B)invisible God, the (C)firstborn of all creation.
16For (D)by Him all things were created, (E)both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether (F)thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--(G)all things have been created through Him and for Him.
17He (H)is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
"Oh yes you are the only one with an meaningful answer"

Romans 13(New American Standard Bible)
Be Subject to Government
1Every (A)person is to be in (B)subjection to the governing authorities For (C)there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
2Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
> I'm glad we're basing support for lifetime appointments to the highest court of the land on hearsay evidence.
While I was in your camp as recently as yesterday, I have to note that the appointment is not ours to make, but the President's. And to him, the evidence is first-hand, not hearsay.
So, while there are many justifications, I agree, to have gone with a publically known quantity like Judge J.R. Brown, the real question to ask yourself is, do you trust the President's read on people? I'm willing to wait and see.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Sorry, I misspoke on that point.
"well, they're liberals, so they probably will!"
I really thought you were aware of the religious conservative players in politics, but your last comment convinced me you've become silly. You've backed yourself into a irrational corner and you won't come out.
me english good.
You are exactly right!
LOL!
No, not intentionally. But since Bush said today he did not ask her about it, how can he and they be so sure? Did Bush lie about this? Do they know something, or are they just "trusting" too with a wink and a nod? I'm amazed at some of the stuff that pops out of "Christian" mouths sometimes, and 13% of Evangelicals think ALL abortions should be legal.
The pews are full each Sunday with people who think guns are evil, the constitution is a living document, open borders are okay, abortion is a personal choice, and campaign finace reform was a great idea. They also think their taxes count towards their tithe.
I'm sorry, but "trust me" is just not good enough for me. "Wait and See" also stinks since it's too late by then. It's not just abortion. It's everything.
We elect presidents. Then we call them President Bush.
We don't call them bush, except you do, which displays your utter contempt for the man and you lack of knowledge about many other things.
But I repeat myself.
First, She's a James Dobson, Jay Sekulo, Chuck Colson conservative and that rules out all the worry about abortion.
Second, There is a subtle way to know another's philosophical perspective without asking "Will you vote for or against ________?"
Third, She was in charge of the supreme court vetting process. I guess you can infer nothing from that priviledge.
I suppose he was lying then - what a shock ;-) ! But there is no reason now to perpetuate the myth that Gore was pro-life in 1988 when he was casting pro-abortion votes in the Senate from 1985 to 1988.
I know I know...I posted the response right after I read yours then watched as the thought was repeated umpteen times. :)
(Though I was a Christian first...it took me a while to "wake up" and discover the Democrat party of the late 20th century was NOT the Democrat party of my grandfather(s).
She found Christ in 1979, but gave to Gore & the DNC in 1988? In 1989 she expressed support for gay groups.
What year was it when she voted for a 7% hike in the sales tax?
