I am watching a Cspan 3 of the vote. Hard to read the screen but it looks like a 12 to 5 vote for Roberts to be Chief Justice.

"WHO VOTED HOW?.........."
"oops. Feinstein, not Boxer. Hard to tell them apart."
"Cole, Feingold and Leahy voted with GOP."
"Feinswine, Boxer... Same thing "
"I'm surprised about Feingold... who's Cole?"
"I had thought Kohl was a republican."
"You may be confusing Herb Kohl (D-WI) with Jon Kyl (R-AZ)."
"Feingold is from CA..."
WHO'S ON FIRST?

When it gets to the full Senate, let's see if they're smart enough to dodge the nuclear Constitutional Bullet.

I think he has only heard that one, one time. After that it was: Ted: "Need a lift?" Respondent: "Oh, uhhh, no Ted, thanks, it is such a beautiful day, I think I will just walk." (as person turns and walks out into driving rain storm).

I think the Democrat vote was completely choreographed, including Leahy's Yes vote. They had to show the leftists they had some spine to stand up to President Bush, but by allowing a few to vote Yes they think they have sent a message to the White House not to send up a "more conservative" nominee next time, and to the American people that they can be "reasonable" if given "reasonable" nominees. Having Leahy vote Yes in particular gets the Dems out of the "knee-jerk opposition" accusation. Feingold and Kohl have not been active on the Committee and are not as beholden to the moonbat interest groups as the others are, so it was logical to assign them the token yes votes. Has nothing to do with their constituents at all. They were told how to vote.

Biden is running for President. Can't afford to alienate the groups who don't want Roberts.
To: Dems_R_Losers
I concur. It is a democratic BS vote.

Biden saw "NO" scribbled on Durbin's notepad then just did what he does best.

""A NO from Biden suprises me.
Biden comes across as a man who wants to tell everyone what they want to hear -- a big brown nose. Well, a brown nose uutil he's dealing with someone powerless - then I'll bet he's a real jerk. Biden's type's so common he's almost a walking a cliché.""
Biden has the biggest ego I've ever witnessed. This is a man who just is full of himself and just loves to hear his voice. He will fail any presidential ambition because of this character flaw. He is not able to see reality because he can only see himself and gotta say it again, this is a man who really LOVES to hear his own voice...

Both senators from WI are on the Judiciary committee? Isnt that odd for 2 senators from the same state to be on a committee? In any case, I read Kohl had said he would vote yes so that's a surprise in any case.
