Byron York of The National Review had a great article yesterday about the devolution of the MoveOn Katrina Victims protest at the White House.
Dana Milbank of the Washington Post also wrote about MoveOn's troubled demonstration.
However, apparently both these fine observers of the scene had departed when the worst part of the MoveOn protest happened.
As Angelwood and I stood talking and debating with malingering MoveOn protesters, a man standing about twenty or thirty feet away from us was giving an interview with an independent D.C. journalist.
I recognized the man as a long time liberal activist from Florida whom we had first met during the build up to the impeachment of President Clinton.
Then, he was defending Bill Clinton, now he's trying to draft his wife Hillary to run for president herself.
It took a while for the man's name to come to mind. It was Bob...something.
As he was giving the interview, the man became agitated and started speaking in a loud voice. He welled up into a tirade and blurted out, "FReepers should be shot!"
I was looking at him as he said this, as his loud voice was naturally drawing the attention of those within ever-growing earshot as his decibel level grew.
Knowing he was out on the political hustings and has been on TV shows and been quoted many times in the press, I asked him if he had just said that we (Freepers) should be shot . I thought maybe he'd take it back and try to excuse himself for being so worked up.
But no, he responded, "Yes, you should be shot!"
He walked away after that. The police did nothing.
Angelwood and I left soon after. The man's name finally came to me. Bob Kunst, president of Hillary Now.
I suppose he's lucky the TV cameras were long gone by then. But there is an audiotape. There was a microphone right in his face when he yelled out, "Freepers should be shot!"
Agreed. Armed insurrection by radical leftists would be effectively crushed by National Guard units, local police, and armed citizens' militias. US military regulars wouldnt even have to be called into the fray.

Yeah you've got that right. As long as Americans have guns the communist and socialist aims of the left can never be fully realized. We are protected in American by our belief that we have a right to defend ourselves and our property. When we no longer have a right to defend ourselves and our property we are no longer free.
Absolute Amen to your observation that these lefties are not the communists of old who possessed the will AND the means to exterminate millions whom they deemed as `enemies of the people'.
OTOH. this Bob Kunst looks like a fat impotent turkey; didn't he run away after shouting that Freepers should be shot? A little ballistic penis envy on his part, it would appear. Said threatened Freepers should say (if Bob Kunst lingers to hear):
"Pussy, you ain't got the balls!"
Thanks for your kind words -- I was there with Kristinn, but I stayed in the background. I yelled "Shame On You for using the victims of a national tragedy" and other truths they didn't want to hear at all the protesters. Some of them from 50 feet away began rushing towards me and screaming. I turned my back on them and they focused their anger elsewhere.
The brave lady who supported President Bush was wonderful. Hopefully, she will check out Free Republic and sign up and then join us at another event.

I'm late catching up on the thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Kunst used to work with Scott Camil, the VVAW member who advocated assassinating prowar politicians. I believe this is mentioned in the FBI's VVAW file HQ 100-448092, Section 5, pages 54 and following (if I'm deciphering my notes correctly).
Yep, that's the same guy. I met him in front of the White House a few years back during the Clinton protests. If memory serves, he called me a fascist...
