Byron York of The National Review had a great article yesterday about the devolution of the MoveOn Katrina Victims protest at the White House.
Dana Milbank of the Washington Post also wrote about MoveOn's troubled demonstration.
However, apparently both these fine observers of the scene had departed when the worst part of the MoveOn protest happened.
As Angelwood and I stood talking and debating with malingering MoveOn protesters, a man standing about twenty or thirty feet away from us was giving an interview with an independent D.C. journalist.
I recognized the man as a long time liberal activist from Florida whom we had first met during the build up to the impeachment of President Clinton.
Then, he was defending Bill Clinton, now he's trying to draft his wife Hillary to run for president herself.
It took a while for the man's name to come to mind. It was Bob...something.
As he was giving the interview, the man became agitated and started speaking in a loud voice. He welled up into a tirade and blurted out, "FReepers should be shot!"
I was looking at him as he said this, as his loud voice was naturally drawing the attention of those within ever-growing earshot as his decibel level grew.
Knowing he was out on the political hustings and has been on TV shows and been quoted many times in the press, I asked him if he had just said that we (Freepers) should be shot . I thought maybe he'd take it back and try to excuse himself for being so worked up.
But no, he responded, "Yes, you should be shot!"
He walked away after that. The police did nothing.
Angelwood and I left soon after. The man's name finally came to me. Bob Kunst, president of Hillary Now.
I suppose he's lucky the TV cameras were long gone by then. But there is an audiotape. There was a microphone right in his face when he yelled out, "Freepers should be shot!"
The boy's got more chins than a Chinese phonebook.

Watch your backs, guys. One of you should always have a video cam handy when out on the front-lines. Although, thanks to the example of Don Adams, that doesn't always prevent the hoodlums from acting their part--and then getting away with it.
In full disclosure, I have a goatee. Though I have had it for over 10 years (have shaved it 3 times in that period for certain things that were best to not have facial hair such as my wedding, family photos with newborn, and 1 job interview).
Don't mess with FREEPERS... We are 2nd ammendment proud, plus we have JOBS!

I've never seen the country so intensely polarized. I begin to worry about the possibility of Civil War.
I have said it many times.. the ones who will destroy us are the ones amung us.
Did you notice the young man just to the left of the center wearing the brown short with his arm in a Nazi salute? How appropriate!
I've have been involved with firearms most of my life, both as a civilian and in the Marine Corps, and while I've seen my share of malfunctions (usually due to human error, i.e., not cleaning weapon properly, reassembling a weapon incorrectly/leaving a vital part out of the reassembling of a weapon, etc.), the ONLY weapon I've seen self-destruct, on two different occasions, was a Desert Eagle (while working at a gun shop/range). Firing pin, firing pin retainer, firing pin spring fell OUT of the weapon while it was being fired. Besides this apparent lack of reliability, it IS an impressive-LOOKING handgun, but is very impractical due to its size. Although they, INCREDIBLY, sell for almost $1000, I wouldn't have one if you offered to GIVE me one.
Another point of interest regarding Desert Eagles...
A gun shop I regularly go to here north of Atlanta, has been broken into several times. One time, a short while ago, security video shows some black guys breaking in, and then breaking the showcase glass to get certain firearms. I believe they stole 2 or 3 Desert Eagles, among other guns that time around. Thank God that they are running around with two large (unconcealable), inherently unreliable weapons on the "skreet"!
Another point of interest regarding STUPID, IGNORANT criminals...
This same gun shop was recently broken into at 2 am one morning. The video shows, again, two black guys stealing various firearms, including several "evil" "assault weapons". Later that day, the SAME two idiots come in the SAME store inquiring about magazines for these weapons, AND they talk to the gun shop personnel and ask to see an AR-15 like the ones they stole. Besides looking familiar to the gun shop personnel (one of the criminals was actually wearing the SAME clothes he had on during the burglary!), since they had already reviewed the security video, the idiots asked, not WHAT the AR-15 COSTS, but instead, they asked what it was WORTH! A more than subtle hint to the gun shop guys that these are the two that ripped them off. Needless to say, these stupid criminals were identified and arrested by local police.

I said basically your last comment to a parent of a teenager with a Che Guevara tee shirt. The young b$tch gave me the finger, I laughed at her and told her that tee shirt might get her killed in a lot of countries. Her mother just glared at me.

I am sure the audio tape will reveal that Bob only wanted to get a FReepers attention. Kinda like the guys in New Orleans shooting at helicopters.
