Byron York of The National Review had a great article yesterday about the devolution of the MoveOn Katrina Victims protest at the White House.
Dana Milbank of the Washington Post also wrote about MoveOn's troubled demonstration.
However, apparently both these fine observers of the scene had departed when the worst part of the MoveOn protest happened.
As Angelwood and I stood talking and debating with malingering MoveOn protesters, a man standing about twenty or thirty feet away from us was giving an interview with an independent D.C. journalist.
I recognized the man as a long time liberal activist from Florida whom we had first met during the build up to the impeachment of President Clinton.
Then, he was defending Bill Clinton, now he's trying to draft his wife Hillary to run for president herself.
It took a while for the man's name to come to mind. It was Bob...something.
As he was giving the interview, the man became agitated and started speaking in a loud voice. He welled up into a tirade and blurted out, "FReepers should be shot!"
I was looking at him as he said this, as his loud voice was naturally drawing the attention of those within ever-growing earshot as his decibel level grew.
Knowing he was out on the political hustings and has been on TV shows and been quoted many times in the press, I asked him if he had just said that we (Freepers) should be shot . I thought maybe he'd take it back and try to excuse himself for being so worked up.
But no, he responded, "Yes, you should be shot!"
He walked away after that. The police did nothing.
Angelwood and I left soon after. The man's name finally came to me. Bob Kunst, president of Hillary Now.
I suppose he's lucky the TV cameras were long gone by then. But there is an audiotape. There was a microphone right in his face when he yelled out, "Freepers should be shot!"
"Forewarned is forearmed" seems suddenly even more relevant.
All FReepers should be disavowed of the notions of "unarmed wimpy Dems".
Coulda been worse.
A common German surname in these parts is "Kuntz" which some families have modified to its phonetic spelling "Koontz".
Bears repeating, often.
Nor to me..BUMP!
Does the name Rosewood mean anything to you?
Hell-ooooo baaaaay-beh!....:)
[/bad Big Bopper imitation]
Now stop stalking me....:-P

Did you happen to note what was on the press badge (if there was one)? Say, was it an IndyMedia or Zuma Press badge? no badge at all; just the appearance of being a reporter?
You do it for a while, then.
I get tired of being flamed for it...LOL!
"[The Templar Celery Dog Strikes Again!]"
You know, of course, there are sufficient numbers of FReepers to create a petition to have us both put away....:)
Sorry, but I was pinged to this thread by some moistened bit who was passing out swords to establish a system of government.
(Come to think of it, I guess she was just trying to "arm" us FReepers.)
That's quite a testimony to the effectiveness of Free Republic.
Good God man!
Pick a thread and stay on it!
[I'm off elsewhere talkin' to me ain bluidy se'f noo!]...;))
Moistened bint?
She wasn't wearing purest samite, was she?
As I read these posts when unease and some vague alarm, I came to yours on the "festivities" and laughed right out loud shocking my husband.
Kristinn they can't shoot us they are pacifist liberals and we have all the guns.
Actually these guys bore me so much with their girlish screaming and histrionics,,that the day could come when I would BEG THEM TO SHOOT ME JUST TO SPARE ME ANYMORE OF THEIR RHETORIC.
