Hillary Now Leader at MoveOn White House Protest: "Freepers Should be Shot"
Friday, September 9, 2005 | Kristinn

Byron York of The National Review had a great article yesterday about the devolution of the MoveOn Katrina Victims protest at the White House.

Dana Milbank of the Washington Post also wrote about MoveOn's troubled demonstration.

However, apparently both these fine observers of the scene had departed when the worst part of the MoveOn protest happened.

As Angelwood and I stood talking and debating with malingering MoveOn protesters, a man standing about twenty or thirty feet away from us was giving an interview with an independent D.C. journalist.

I recognized the man as a long time liberal activist from Florida whom we had first met during the build up to the impeachment of President Clinton.

Then, he was defending Bill Clinton, now he's trying to draft his wife Hillary to run for president herself.

It took a while for the man's name to come to mind. It was Bob...something.

As he was giving the interview, the man became agitated and started speaking in a loud voice. He welled up into a tirade and blurted out, "FReepers should be shot!"

I was looking at him as he said this, as his loud voice was naturally drawing the attention of those within ever-growing earshot as his decibel level grew.

Knowing he was out on the political hustings and has been on TV shows and been quoted many times in the press, I asked him if he had just said that we (Freepers) should be shot . I thought maybe he'd take it back and try to excuse himself for being so worked up.

But no, he responded, "Yes, you should be shot!"

He walked away after that. The police did nothing.

Angelwood and I left soon after. The man's name finally came to me. Bob Kunst, president of Hillary Now.

I suppose he's lucky the TV cameras were long gone by then. But there is an audiotape. There was a microphone right in his face when he yelled out, "Freepers should be shot!"

So he didn't protest Presidents Kennedy and Johnson from 1961-1969?!

Kunst has been a partisan operative for a **LONG** time...

There are many pockets of "old style Democrats" who are tough, gun-loving hunters and shooters all over this country.

Well the "good old boys" of Florida seem to be drifting pretty steady toward Republican...

I do not belive that enough people are aware that this is the truth.

They are as well as or better armed than we are.

Their politicos really do not knoe who they are dealing with.

I've never seen the country so intensely polarized. I begin to worry about the possibility of Civil War.

I did a quick tally on the percentages of veteran's from the states since 1990 (which indicates where people join the military from or move to when they finish their service). The strongly liberal states (which are the only ones who could consider it) would have no chance and they know it. That is why they are trying to take us over by using the courts and MSM.

San Diego has the largest number of vets in the U.S.
along with the largest amount of current military.

“I was astounded,” Kunst said yesterday. “I wasn’t doing anything offensive."

Bob, Bob, Bob, you don't understand. Just your standing there and breathing was offensive.

Of course not. To the liberal, it was Nixon who started the war. I've actually spoken to a couple who believe this, such is their total lack of historical facts. They live in a completely delusional parallel universe, where absolutely everything is twisted, distorted, and contorted to fit whatever they wish to believe.

So how many times did Richard Nixon visit Key Biscayne? Once? Twice?

That's probably true. But San Diego can't compensate for the negative deficit from the other liberal California mega-cities. San Diego is probably the only reason that California is light blue, unlike states like New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania (none of which has greater than 7.6% of veterans since 1990). But I wouldn't put too much emphasis on San Diego since the overall veteran population (including Vietnam, Korea, and WWII conflicts) is between 12.7 - 14.9% (national average of 12.7%) for San Diego county. While this is higher than national average, it is not strongly higher than national average and I would believe that the number of veterans created from San Diego since Vietnam would have decreased (and hence would be lower than the 12.7 - 14.9% for the post 1990 statistics which are more representative of the current military status). I can support this by noting that the veteran percentages for WWII, Korea, and Vietnam are all higher than the national average for those periods for California (22.5 to 21.7% national, 15.7 to 15.3% national, and 32.4 to 31.7% national respectively) while the after 1990 value is below national average (10.8% to 11.5%). It's all in the census.gov pdf document.

I thought LIBERALS were non-violent types.

I guess it's good we still can own guns.

"Hillary Clinton and the Radical Left" Hillary Clinton and the Third Way***......................Conservatives who think progressives are misinformed idealists will forever be blind-sided by the malice of the left-by the cynicism of those who pride themselves on principle, by the viciousness of those who champion sensitivity, by the intolerance of those who call themselves liberal, and by the ruthless disregard for the well-being of the downtrodden by those who preen themselves as social saints. ....***

Your right, the rabid left is frustrated beyond words that none of their lies are working.. and 'beyond words' is the key element here.

The big fat fish live off the underlings. It's a pyramid scheme if I ever saw one. If all their time is spent hating President Bush is there any time left over for a job or giving a hand to help their community? As far as I'm concerned they are DEAD HEADS because they make no positive contribution to their community

Maybe in FL but not where I live.

Maryland has voted Dem for 150+ years because of the "martial law" deal with Lincoln.
Some of the ridgerunners still see Republicans as the "Federals" [revenuers, etc] and as ridiculous as that may see to us *now*, it makes perfect sense to them.
Lots of Scots/Irish here and they hold grudges forever.

FWIW, I was a Dem until the 80s myself and my kin have voted loyally Dem from Lincoln clear up to Reagan.

Western MD is not unique in this.
Southwestern PA [mountains] and the western majority of WV is still fighting the war between the states, politically speaking.

I'm less than a mile as the crow flies from both the WV and PA state lines and if a D/R "civil war" ever does break out, I'm screwed.

Byron York of The National Review had a great article yesterday about the devolution of the MoveOn Katrina Victims protest at the White House.
From www.nationalreview.com/york:
...The crowd kept chanting. "IMPEACH BUSH! IMPEACH BUSH! FIRE BROWN! FIRE BROWN!" But off to the side, another voice was added to the general noise. A man named Kristinn Taylor, an active member of the conservative group FreeRepublic in Washington, stood off to the side with a handmade sign that said, SHAME ON MOVEON — EXPLOITING KATRINA VICTIMS. Some of the protesters moved toward him to begin what might be called a high-minded debate.

"YOU'RE AN IDIOT!" a woman yelled at Taylor after Taylor blamed New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin for failing to evacuate the city...

Always at the right place, with EXACTLY the right sign. :o)
