They have faith they can feed thousands - Religious groups launch effort in Houston***A massive interfaith effort is under way to feed Hurricane Katrina evacuees at large-scale shelters in Houston, including the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The plan is not final. But organizers expect religious groups to raise an initial $4.4 million for 30 days of food and to supply 720 volunteers a day to provide and serve three hot meals to many thousands seeking shelter in Houston.
"I do not view this as a faith community issue," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, which will participate in the effort and other relief projects. "This is a human decency issue."
The religious effort, dubbed Operation Compassion, is being discussed with city and state officials and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. Second Baptist Church is the central administrator of the effort. ........***

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, Black Leadership Forum, National Conference of State Legislators, National Urban League, and the NAACP were critical of the relief effort for victims of Hurricane Katrina. All of whom would be silent at this moment had Katrina hit Maine.

But enough about me.

Then they would have objected to all the money going to a relief effort in Maine.

That's right --- too many Dems are racists.

If the Congressional Black Caucus wants to help, then they should put down their hot dogs and get down out of the stands and on to the field of play and pitch in, otherwise STFU

Black leaders at a press conference in Washington criticized news coverage they said has depicted blacks in New Orleans as looters and refugees.
Psst, Elijah if you can't shut that punk-a$$ Mayor Nagin up and get his dumb ass Police Chief away from Geraldo's camera my daddy said you're going to have a very bad accident. Handle it Bi+ch!

Reverend Jesse Jackson (C) addresses a news conference at the command center, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana September 1, 2005. Jackson said the recent spike in gasoline prices following the hurricane was a form of looting and that he was departing for New Orleans to pick up college students. When you watch the video that produced that still it shows that the president was walking up with his arm around a 12 year old girl. When the lady in the picture sees the expression of compassion on the president's face, she hugs him. You can't fake the expression of concern he must have had and she recognized it. This is a very good man. Once again we see how lucky we are to have him. Thank God the rats didn't steal 2000.

And just what has the NAACP or the Black Caucus contributed to this effort in terms of dollars, food, volunteers, housing, water, transportation? Where are they? Where are they?
