(AP) A live telethon designed to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina has raised some eyebrows, as well.
During "A Concert for Hurricane Relief" airing on NBC and other networks, rapper Kanye West blasted President Bush for the slow start to the recovery effort. West alleged, in his words, "George Bush doesn't care about black people." He also claims America is set up to help the poor "as slow as possible." The comments were heard when the program aired on the East Coast, but censored from the taped show played later on the West Coast.
There was a several-second tape delay, but the person in charge "was instructed to listen for a curse word, and didn't realize (West) had gone off-script," said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks.

Yeah, right.
I didn't even turn it on. Now I'm doubly glad I didn't.
Screaming as loud as they can while they can. Blanco said the day she finally ordered the mandatory evacuation that it was a phone call from the President that made her do it. These people are despicable and I hope a lot of those rescued will see who is actually helping them.
I think the Mayor needs to respond.
The mayor and the governor. Blanco could've used Guardsmen to drive them.
Those buses would have evacuated 13000 people every three hours.
What sickens me about this whole thing is that the people of New Orleans will reelect these incompetents, because they will watch the LSM tell them that it was all Bush's fault and like sheep they will believe it.
Those are probably the same busses that took them to the polls to vote.
Bush is an extraordinary man, a model of decency, rectitude, and self-control despite the most galling and provocative abuse ever heaped on a president over such a sustained period. Many of us wish he'd roll up the sleeves and pound back. But he's wiser, I suppose.
It's going to take an incompetent Rat President for people to appreciate what we have now, I'm afraid.
Liberal's comment on President Bush's show of genuine compassion (something you never saw from Clinton) as follows (from dailyKos):
"I think Condi is going to be jealous (none / 1)
there was an awful lot of hugging and kissing going on there.
I swear to God when I see a man act like that to a traumatized woman he doesn't even know, bells go off:
Sexual Predator!

Savage is right-Liberalism is a mental illness. We see perversion in normal behavior only when our own thoughts carry us there.
The left is filled with vile people.
***....Conservatives who think progressives are misinformed idealists will forever be blind-sided by the malice of the left-by the cynicism of those who pride themselves on principle, by the viciousness of those who champion sensitivity, by the intolerance of those who call themselves liberal, and by the ruthless disregard for the well-being of the downtrodden by those who preen themselves as social saints....***

I noticed the dearth of AP photos of President Bush comforting the residents of New Orleans yesterday. It was especially galling to me because I watched him live on ABC. He was hugging everybody regardless of race. Seems to me that AP and Reuters have a secret political agenda. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Bump!
Yes.
I couldn't find one until I put in the key words, bush hugs.
And I suppose all the "good folks" who were carrying the TV's out of the stores were registered Republicans? Well, I must admit, at least they were showing some individual initiative instead of sitting around and squalling because the government teet took a couple of days to arrive. If they can't find their way out of their city without being herded on a free government bus, they're not likely to be able to bother to find their way to a polling place either.
Meanwhile, Kirbyjon Caldwell, Methodist preacher in Houston, rolls up his sleeves and works with his congregation to feed a horde of evacuees.
Calwell is, incidentally, black, and a close personal friend of the President.
He is what the Jesses and the Als and the shameful lip-flapping, self-promoting black celebrities and politicians SHOULD be.
Exactly!
