Written apologies will be sent to a fallen Marine's relatives angered by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll's uninvited appearance at the soldier's funeral and her criticism of the war in Iraq, Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday.
Rendell said he will send a personal letter to the family of the late Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, of Westwood, and will ask Knoll to do the same. Goodrich, 32, a police officer and infantry unit leader, died July 10 in a mortar attack in Hit, Iraq.
Rendell said he hadn't spoken with Knoll about the incident, but was disturbed by the family's charge that she made a political statement against the war.
"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," Rendell said during an appearance in Mt. Washington.

Personally, an apology won't cut it.
How about a resignation or two?

Dumbass democrats always using tragedy to further their cause. I hope America watches these freaks and their antics. Sometimes I wonder if they're just stupid or they do this on purpose.

If the governor was smart. he would TELL Knoll to personally visit the family and beg for forgiveness. She had no right going to a HERO'S funeral and desecrating with her politically bulls**t. Something tell me, if this state cares for it's fallen soldiers and soldiers who are still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, she will NOT get re-elected to office.
I don't know if Knoll is a democRAT or a republican, most likely democRAT, but I don't care. A person never talks bad about what a marine died for.

If this wench was snatched off the podium by her hair, bitch slapped, and physically booted out the door, no jury would convict!
And if they did, so what!!

She showed up uninvited, and turned the poor guys funeral into a Welstone democrat funerally! She was even handing out her business cards!!!
That woman should not only be booted out of office, but she should also be run right out of town by her constituents. She behaved like a total left wing lunatic!

Of course they 'do it on purpose' to further their cause---look at the favor "fast eddie" along with other 'slimeball' legislators did to the taxpayers of PA lately---gave themselves pay raises of 16-34%---second highest paid in the nation---we sure as hell are not the 2nd highest anything else in the nation---God Bless that family for having the guts to call that b---h on it

Dumbass democrats always using tragedy to further their cause.
Erstwhile L.P. standard-bearer Harry Browne grandstanded while the WTC rubble was still warm, trying to score political points by blaming America for the attacks. Unsurprisingly, and just as ghoulish and cynical in its delivery, many self-avowed libertarians on 9-12 were calling for the legalization of all drugs, since we are at war with terrorists and supposedly we can't be at war with Americans at the same time. Nowadays the ghoulish exploiters are found among the hard-core anti-immigrants, using 9-11 as an excuse for wanting immigration (legal or otherwise) from the Third World curtailed.
In a way it is hearteneing to know that 3,000 people died and handed the petty pet-peevers and selfish single-issue crowd a reason to crow.
To: Pikamax
Don't bother yelling from the rooftops about Knoll. She is finished in politics. Count on it. Pennsylvania is a land of patriots with long memories. It is Rendell's own future which may be in serious doubt if he permits Knoll to stay on after this appallingly disrespectful display.
To: Pikamax
If we apply the same standards that Republicans are held to, then Rendell must resign, himself.

Rendell is the worst kind of 'slimeball politician' but he knows how to work the rest of them, pubs or dems, they all come out of the same pot after their first term in office--instead of standing behind the president while this stuff is going on they show the colors they like best (yellow) and are proud of it--anyone who votes dem is of the same caliber as far as I am concerned

Oh Really !! Fast Eddy better become Faster Eddy! Talk about putting your foot in your mouth!! This guy is a Scum Bag just like Knoll!!
