Unsurprisingly, and just as ghoulish and cynical in its delivery, many self-avowed libertarians on 9-12 were calling for the legalization of all drugs, since we are at war with terrorists and supposedly we can't be at war with Americans at the same time. Nowadays the ghoulish exploiters are found among the hard-core anti-immigrants, using 9-11 as an excuse for wanting immigration (legal or otherwise) from the Third World curtailed.
In a way it is hearteneing to know that 3,000 people died and handed the petty pet-peevers and selfish single-issue crowd a reason to crow.

Umm yea, we want to close the borders because we are at war. I've wanted the border closed for decades, as the immigrants (both legal and illegal) are not assimilating, much like what this country experienced in the 1920's. It was because of the restricted immigration policies through the 1930's that helped bring the US as a united front in World War 2.
There has been unlimited immigration with no assimilation for the last 20 plus years. In addition to this, there is a complete lack of sacrifice by the American people as a whole in this war of civilizations.
