Written apologies will be sent to a fallen Marine's relatives angered by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll's uninvited appearance at the soldier's funeral and her criticism of the war in Iraq, Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday.
Rendell said he will send a personal letter to the family of the late Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, of Westwood, and will ask Knoll to do the same. Goodrich, 32, a police officer and infantry unit leader, died July 10 in a mortar attack in Hit, Iraq.
Rendell said he hadn't spoken with Knoll about the incident, but was disturbed by the family's charge that she made a political statement against the war.
"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," Rendell said during an appearance in Mt. Washington.

What a slimey sneaky snake she is! Intruding on this family, sitting by the aunt. I'm sure this family can figure out who to contact for anything they need...without the ghoulish gnome handing out her "business" card. And what business? She has NO business! She lives off the taxpayers. What a dope!
both are Dems up for re-election in 2006
and probably be re-elected-----the dem scum in philly, pittsburgh, harrisburg, etc. along with enough stupid rural voters in western Pa will do the job again
Why would he apologize for what she did? Is Lt. Govenor like the Pres/VP nationally and run on one slate or is it like most states two people elected in independent elections in PA?

Does'nt seem like PA is too patriotic to this resident and voter---if they were, they would not have gone for another POS like Kerry in last election-
"Personally, an apology won't cut it.
"How about a resignation or two?"
I think this is the right answer.
I am personally enraged by this.
The Lt. Governor--well, I won't engage
in name-calling, but I think she
should be gone.
(I have not served. My tagline honors by son and cousin.)
Well, I'll be honest here.
My Dad was in the Navy.
My husband was in the 82nd Airborne.
Another family member is doing something special.
IF a politician, male or female, showed up at a family funeral
and said that, she/he would be physically removed from the
area -- by me (and I'm tiny).

God bless you, ma'am. I am so personally emotionally
involed in this that I am trying to keep my temper
in check. If I said how I really feel, it would do
nobody else any good.
But I'd darn well cheer you as you took him or her
out the door.
As far as I'm concerned, someone as low as that is fair game. She'd better pray I'm not on the jury, and that's a distinct possibility.
First thing I saw too. Sounds like a back handed Kerry response.
It is the business of Americans to support the war when this nation is at war.
Not good enough by a long shot. Fast Eddy will have a staff person write a "personal" apology and sign his name to it. Even if he were to make a public statement apology, it would be from notes created by a staffer. A microphone should be stuck in his face demanding an impromptu apology. Let's see and hear for ourselves how sincere Fast Eddy is without notes.
He should also be questioned about whether he agrees with or not with his Lt. Gov.
Get it on tape!
I think it's safe to say that Fast Eddy was "Freeped" this weekend. ROTFL!!!!!
Nowadays the ghoulish exploiters are found among the hard-core anti-immigrants, using 9-11 as an excuse for wanting immigration (legal or otherwise) from the Third World curtailed.
Then STFU. It is NOT in your job title be critical of the military actions of this country. The votes were cast by Congress and we went to war.
A patriot would support the action and the troops. The time for debate was before we entered. I still am unconvinced that anything we did was "wrong" in going to war. The "Abu Ghrab scandal" is not about the way we fought the war or whether we were successful or not. Neither is Gitmo.
If our soldiers are wrong to be fighting this war then the people they kill are innocents. It is impossible to support the troops and not the war.
That's like supporting invading rioters but not "the riot".
What, you hope they don't get shot by the property owners? That might big of you Ms. Gov.
A cursory glance at a blue-tate / red-state map doesn't pass for reasoned political analysis.
PA, like many of the close states in 2004, followed the usual pattern: 75% of the counties voted overwhelmingly for Bush, but the 25% that voted for Kerry were the welfare-ridden urban bastions of political correctness, liberal insanity, and government-as-industry. Philadelphia might as well be a state by itself, and the rest of the state would dearly like for that to happen.
It's less stark in Pittsburgh, not that you could tell from this story.
He should be a bit more than disturbed. With active work trying to block Military absentee balloting by our military in conjunction with this staffs behavior a simple apology will not cut it. Not only is his governorship anti military but it is represented by people who have deportment that will allow campaigning at funerals. Whats next for Lt. Governor knoll, passing gas at state dinners? She should be booted out.
Tell me, how do you un-ring a bell?
