PRESIDENT BUSH SHOULD NOMINATE "TEN COMMANDMENTS JUDGE" ROY MOORE TO THE SUPREME COURT

Vienna, VA. "President Bush should nominate former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore to replace Sandra Day O'Connor in the U.S. Supreme Court", Howard Phillips, Chairman of The Conservative Caucus, said today.

"Sandra Day O'Connor's appointment by Ronald Reagan was a foreseeable disaster," Phillips continued. "As I pointed out in 1981, Mrs. O'Connor was a pro-abortion member of the Arizona State Senate and a liberal judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals. She was chosen because of her gender and a desire to attract to the GOP the support of feminists.

"Judge Roy Moore also has a track record. He is a rock-solid defender of the right to acknowledge God, a foe of sodomy and abortion, and a critic of the ‘legal positivism' embraced by David Souter, Anthony Kennedy, John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and Steven Breyer.

Phillips concluded: "Roy Moore is the best choice that President Bush could make."

TCC, founded in 1974, is a public policy action group committed to restoring the Republic by limiting the Federal government to its delegated, enumerated Constitutional functions and returning American jurisprudence to its Biblical Common Law foundations.

These guys are nuts. We want hardcore conservatives, yes. But Roy Moore would be about the worst possible choice politically.

Probably aint going to happen, but I would love to SEE it happen.

But we have to have a conservative President in the WH first.

Roy Moore for the Supreme Court would be a fine choice! That fact alone means that George W. Bush wouldn't choose him.

I've had conversations with Howard Phillips. When he gets the bit in his teeth, there's no stopping him. This suggestion is as dumb as proposing Judge Wapner (who's dead) or any of the other TV judges. Get serious, Howard.

Um, part of the qualification for "good choice" should be someone that could ACTUALLY get Senate confirmation.

"These guys are nuts."

You're absolutely correct in your statement. Personally, I want someone that will uphold the constitution as written. Why is it all these "rightwingers" think only "christians" are conservative?

GW better elect a true conservative or there are going to be defections from the pubbie party. I'm thinking 60/40 he does the correct job but if not it is over for him & the GOP. If the worst happens you can no more denounce that fact of the "Two-Party Cartel" controlled totally by the elites.

Pres Bush said today that this is very interesting to him, that he is be appointing someone who would continue in office long after he himself is gone from office.

>>>We want hardcore conservatives

I'd rather have a hardcore 'originalist'/'strict constructionist' judge who's politics are center-right. But I suppose that makes me the odd man out around here...

I'd rather nominate someone who was thrown in jail for refusing to pay taxes than someone who went to jail for refusing to tear down the ten commandments.

Stop socialism before dealing with 'social issues'.
