"That may be too late!"
GeekDejure | May 3rd, 2005 | GeekDejure

Hello Freepers... it's Alex (GeekDekure) here...

Laura, my darling wife of 30 wonderful years, has been in the hospital, dying from the devastating effects of severe cancer. I talked to her on the phone at 5:00 this evening. I told her I'd be at her bedside on Wednesday morning at 11:00. In a quiet, muffled, fast breathing voice she said, "That may be too late!"

Later... at 7:45... I received a call from Laura's son, Mark. "Sorry to have to tell you, Alex... Mom died at 7 o'clock !!!"

Freepers... I really feel like a totally useless piece of sh!t. Good grief... I couldn't even be at my wife's bedside when she died !!! Eeeyuch... just another reason for me to hate myself... and no, I surely don't need therapy. I'll live with it privately until I eventually join her in Heaven above !!!

Laura and I are followers of Yahweh (the true Name of the Most High). And despite losing her to the cancerous infestation that finally overtook her ability to survive, I am still convinced that the Force ( Yahweh ) is with us !!!

click...click... Alex (GeekDejure) ;-((

Your thanks aren't needed. It's not neccessary to thank family for being there.

I'm sure you have FReepers you feel close to. Don't forget to FReepmail them when you need a little support and comfort. That's one of the reasons WHY the Lord has you/them/us here.

Prayers that God will give you comfort and peace.

Psalm 23

    1 The LORD is my shepherd;
       I shall not want.
       2He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
       He leads me beside the still waters.
       3He restores my soul;
       He leads me in the paths of righteousness
       For His name's sake.

       4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
       I will fear no evil;
       For You are with me;
       Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

       5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
       You anoint my head with oil;
       My cup runs over.
       6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
       All the days of my life;
       And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
       Forever.

I'm sorry for your loss. Don't beat yourself up about not being with your wife. We all make mistakes, if we didn't make mistakes we wouldn't need forgiveness. Also, I'm sure your wife has already forgiven you.

I went through this a few years ago.

With my husband it was an accident, and I wasn't in the room at the time. By the time I found him it was too late to save him. I drove myself crazy with "if onlys".

Then one night, while praying, the Lord gave me this verse:

"And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings"

It's part of Acts 17. It was as if God was saying to me every second was apportioned out according to his will and perfection. Acts 17 ends with the resurrection.

I will pray for you.

I cared for my mom for three years before she died of cancers. It was a huge battle for her life, unfortunately the cancers were too aggressive, so I can relate to what you have been going through.

Though my mom's passing occurred toward the end of the 90's, even then she had her pain under control with medicine.

Could be your wife had medication that kind of set her a bit off to pull that tube.

You know what, I really think she more than likely had a confused moment and probably didn't really plan it. She probably was in a fog and removed it while moving around under some strong medication.

My mom at times toward the end had confused moments with all the medication as well. It isn't uncommon at all.

There is absolutely nothing for you to beat yourself or anyone else up over. Don't take anything personal here. You can control little in life, and death is about the least thing you have control over.

God bless you and your family. I'll ask my family in heaven to give her a big hug for you.

How sad for you and how glad she must be to be in His arms at last.

Let yourself grieve and leave out your absence.
