Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.

We all need to be very careful now.
It's just dreadful.

In the hour of trial, Jesus, plead for me ...
I am numb with disbelief, yet tears are streaming down my face. In my heart I expected this as, the forces against life have been growing stronger and stronger. I still feel such incredible shock, and grief.

Well put.
Too bad for Terri that she wasn't a poor lesbian muslim illegal immigrant.
Words fail me...
The whole issue is about the patient's final end of life desire.
No it isn't. It's much bigger than that. It encompasses such wide-ranging subjects as an out-of-control judiciary, euthanasia and the right-to-die movement and where we are headed as a Nation. It also might involve premeditated murder.
Terri said she didn't want to be kept alive by artificial means, the way she is now. There's no question that she would want to die by removal of life support.
There is ample doubt these were her wishes. I would hate to be put to death based on my supposed comments at age 20 when seeing a movie. In any case, she left no instructions and the opinions of close family members and friends conflict on this point. The only ones who agree are her husband and a few of his close relatives. Besides, her husband probably has personal and financial interests for getting rid of her. Maybe criminal ones.
The ending is good because it honors her wishes.
Tell that to her mother and family. It is even possible at the last minute she was desperately resisting, according to one of her lawyers and her family who were present.
I note on your personal page you make a few comments. Let me ask a few question, based on your given information...
Marital status: Married since 1973, 4 cats, no kids.
Would you starve any of your cats to death, even if they were old and sick? (You have no kids, so you cannot be expected to think like a parent, watching your child being slowly and judicially murdered...)
Motto: "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing."
I like your motto, but you need to consider if there is some genuine evil afoot here, as well as larger issues. There is much more involved here than a disabled woman's alleged "wishes". The "kill Terri" side would like everyone to think the issue is narrow and only has to do with her "wishes". You have apparently bought their line.
Amen.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

I am angry that this is occurring and now I want to see what the POTUS will do, he is the only one with power left, it is time he did what GOD would expect him to do
Unite Terri and her family in their grief, O Lord ... sustain them this day ...

So if someone does not have a quality of life up to your standards, their life is of no value, huh?
Life unworthy of life. Useless eater.
It's great to have almighty judges such as yourself to determine who is worth putting money and effort into and who is not.
