Michael Schiavo: 'Come Down President Bush' (Terri's Husband is Getting Frustrated)
Tampa Bay Online ^ | 3.20.05 | William Levesque

Posted on 03/20/2005 7:51:55 AM PST by gopwinsin04

Angered by the lastest political developments in Washington, Michael Schiavo said Saturday that it isn't just the governor who should visit his wife to learn about the case.

'Come down, President Bush,' Schiavo said in a telephone interview. 'Come talk to me. Meet my wife. Talk to my wife and see if you get an answer. Ask her to lift her arm to shake your hand. She wont do it.'

She won't, Shiavo said, because she can't.

He made a similar offer last week to Florida Governor Jeb Bush saying lawmakers interfering in his wife's life know nothing about the case.

So far, Governor Bush has not responded to the offer. President George W, Bush has said he will sign any federal legislation that will keep Terri Schiavo alive.

Michael Schiavo also said that US Congressional House Majority Leader Tom Delay is a 'little slithering snake' pandering for votes.

'To make comments that Terri would want to live, how do they know?' Schiavo said of the members of Congress who want to keep Terri alive.

'Terri died 15 years ago,' referring to the collapse and cardiac arrest that doctors say virtually destroyed her brain. It's time for her to be with the lord like she wanted to be.'

AND if they can prove she actually requested to die rather than live on in this way

Well, we both know they'll never be able to prove that to the satisfaction of both.

But I just wondered what is going to happen if the panel agrees with what Greer has done and the USSC keeps out of it.

Is there any "authority" that will end it in that case?

That will, judicially and legislatively, be the end of it.

I can't help but wonder why Michael Schiavo would be "angered" by a government responding to its people championing life.

And why does he have so much clout?
Is he the son or brother of someone in a position of power? He looks like one of the Village People, for what its worth - very much like that sleazy porn king who was married to Dorothy Stratton.

Well, she DIDN'T write a living will so let it go.

She did, however, tell her husband and two others (one of them her best friend) that SHE (not me) SHE would not want to live that way.

But YOU won't let her. YOU know better, don't you?

This woman's fate is none of our business. Get your nose out and so will I.

That last phrase of Michael's quote in the article sounds like something that Scott Peterson might say.

You nailed it, and all his supporters are the same as Scott Peterson's supporters too. Perps require fans.

If it isn't in writing, it doesn't exist.
Done deal.
If she felt that strongly about it, she should have taken care of it.
It's basic contract law, actually.
If Michael can't prove it, he should stop asserting it.

Does Michael want to go after the mentally retarded next? The handicapped? The homeless?

No kidding...can't enjoy a pleasant ride down the Interstate without seeing the homeless gathered together up under the overpasses...ruins the whole trip for my wife and I. Move 'em out.

I hope some of my statements are not written in stone..like...after a nice meal at Thanksgiving or Christmas when , perhaps, I have eaten too much and I might remark...."I'm stuffed, I don't ever want to eat again."

And the miracle might not happen, too. That is irrelevant. She has a right to live just as she is, even if she will never get any better. Otherwise, we play into people's so-called standards of deciding who lives and dies and playing God. Let's not go there, even in well-meant sentiments.

"What if your spouse told you that he/she wouldn't want to live in a vegetative state and others stepped in to keep her that way?"

In the first place, she is not in a vegetative state. In the second place, he didn't "remember" her "wishes" to be killed until years later, conveniently, right after receiving the award he swore tearfully to a jury to he would use for her rehabilitation. In the third place, there is a sworn affadavit by one of his other girlfriends that he said earlier on that he had no idea what Terri would want. Fourth place, being starved to death was not an option prior to the time that Terri was injured, so she could not have said she wanted that. Fifth place, Terri's best friend said that she had watched a movie with Terri once and Terri had gotten angry over them taking the woman off life support saying "how do they know what she wants?" Sixth place, it was his attorney who, with his Hemlock Society connections, got the legislation shoved through in Florida which allowed people to be deprived of food and water causing them to die, and who proudly admits to offing both of his own parents that way...and who, incidentally, in case you were unaware, has already written a book about this case which cannot be completed and released until Terri is dead. I could go on, but there is enough things out of order here to very closely scrutinize this case from the outside, meaning apart from anyone with a vested interest in killing this woman, which would include the Florida judge who has been playing god throughout this whole sorry mess.

As much as I despise congress critters sticking their nose into citizen's business -- there are instances where at least some publicity seeking idiot congress critter initiates an "investigation" worthy of the attention..

Unfortunately -- congress rarely get to the truth, and even in those rare instances where they stumble upon the truth -- they don't accomplish anything worthwhile with the truth...

Who knew when you got married, that your spouse has total control of everything about you including your right to life.

I knew this when I got marriwed in 1977. I'm sure my husband will follow my wishes but just the same they are in writing. My directions specify that nutrition, hydration and antibiotics are NOT extraordinary means.

"Funny, Michael didn't think she was dead before he got that settlement check."

Would not the settlement check for her care and rehabilitation from the insurance company been based on medical diagnosis? If so, and now Michael wishes to terminate her, isn't he guilty of accepting money under false pretenses? Could he be open to civil suit by the insurance company?
