If she felt that strongly about it, she should have taken care of it.
It's basic contract law, actually.

I hope some of my statements are not written in stone..like...after a nice meal at Thanksgiving or Christmas when , perhaps, I have eaten too much and I might remark...."I'm stuffed, I don't ever want to eat again."

The courts will accept testimony regarding verbal requests from the spouse. "It" does exist.
