FR doesn't eat their own, FR eats anyone that steps over the line of truth and scrutinizes all, left or right. If one can't live with that then they can take their toys and go home and pout. I think Hannity is just going thru a whiney period while he deals with his PMS. FR is a tough place, I have been flamed royally and still infest the place.

He did not condemn all FReepers,, but the "takeover" of FR by FRingers allegation needs to be further looked into, I prefer to deal in specifics than unsubstantiated assertions.

I'm not talking about those. There are plenty of 'ZOT Cleanup on aisle 7' posts that are inane but harmless (and I've participated in my share of those, just because it's fun).

What I mean was the vicious and angry comments that degrade the intellectual debate. I've run across plenty of over the top speech that has no place in civilized discussion, and I don't hesitate to fire for effect with a salvo of abuse button hits. Posting racist and hateful rants detracts from FR's value. I'm glad to see that they're cleaned up so fast, but it's a constant battle. Anyone with a keyboard and an internet connection can be a 'FReeper', and make us look bad by association.

My wife will no longer listen to Hannity. And I turn him off every time he gives too much air-time to left-wing extremists, which seems to happen more and more lately. Today's leftist, a loud-mouth, Black-Panther type, was allowed to repeatedly interrupt the Rev. Jesse Peterson. Only rarely did Sean ask him to give the good Rev a chance to speak, and then he was so meek the loud-mouth ignored him.

Regarding today's whine about Free Republic, I would suspect Hannity is playing the old "Cry Stop Thief, First" strategy. That is, by claiming Free Republic has been taken over by right-wing extremists, fewer people will notice that his show has become a megaphone for left-wing extremists.

Hannity is, was and likely always has been a self aggrandizing loud-mouthed punk, a corporate shill, a bully and a shallow thinker. If he is turning on his freeper groupies it is because he has been instructed to do so or sees no immediate personal benefit in maintaining the facade of appreciation.

That FR has shown some independence from some conservative commentators is refreshing. I have to add re hypocricy that few can surpass O'Reilly for engaging in all kinds of dirty sex talk with an employee and being self righteous about it because his show is so succesful that Fox fought her and then paid her off. And he sits there pretending to be the voice of common sense and common decency when he's a pig.
