Georgia Flag Vote update
Southern Heritage PAC ^ | Jan 25 | SHPAC

Posted on 01/27/2005 10:15:33 AM PST by DixieOklahoma

Support Georgia's right to have a REAL vote on their state flag... The only vote issued did not include the flag that sparked all the controversay in the first place!.

In addition, only 6% of registered voters showed up at the polls, BECAUSE the real Georgia state flag wasn't included in the referendum!!

There is currently a bill that has just been filed with the Georgia State House to allow the real flag to be included in a statewide vote, as well as the current flag.

No matter your feeling on the flag personally... There SHOULD BE a vote on this state flag. After all it is the people of the state of georgia that the flag represents! Right is right, and the people should have a vote on their stolen state flag.

RINO governor (the liar) Perdue, who will be defeated in his re election attempt in 2006, has vowed that this bill will be killed in comittee.

Lets see that that doesn't happen:

I did read somewhere a well researched study that suggested the flag and teachers had been decisive.

The flag, teachers, the people who were upset about that road around Atlanta, the people who didn't like King Roy's penchant for proclamations and back-room deals, and a host of others.

As I say, the mainstream media likes to pretend it was just the flag, because they want Georgians to appear to be a bunch of ignorant redneck KKK sympathizers, but the reality was much more complicated, and the flag supporters were only a small part of why Roy Barnes lost.

I was not aware the '56 flag had been changed on the Georgia page.

If you're such a Georgia flag supporter, why isn't there one on your FR homepage?

So, are you suggesting people who voted on and support the flag are really a "bunch of ignorant redneck KKK sympathizers?" If so, you yourself are a bigot.

I'm not sure what you are asking about the Georgia page. The Georgia Chapter that is linked on the left side of the home page does have the '56 flag. Is there another page you are referring to?

No, I wasn't suggesting that. Your reading comprehension isn't real good, is it?

I wasn't asking about the Georgia page. I was asking about your FR homepage.

Again, that reading comprehension thingie....

My reading comprehension is just fine. You really do not want to go there. Perhaps your writing is incomprehensible. But this is childish and silly. How about addressing the issues instead of making juvenile remarks?

I have never put anything on my FR page, because I don't spend that much time here. Maybe I'll do so.

I was trying to do so when you accused me of being a bigot.

Nice point. Loving and respecting my neighbor is what it's all about. I'm sure my soul is in good stead in that respect.

Maybe you and your brethren should stick to parades, rallies, and Civil War enactments and let the grown-ups do the hard work of actually governing the state.

You have inadvertently, I think, stumbled onto the truth. You and the compromisers are interested in governing the State. I'm interested in dismantling the government.

What exactly about caving in to the PC gestapo indicates being grown up? I would think standing up for what you believe in the face of the withering PC assault would indicate maturity and the courage of ones convictions.

"RINO"? If he's against the Confederate flag or skeptical about it or just not turned on by it, then he's wholly within the Republican tradition.

The Southern Heritage PAC, by contrast, cooperates with groups like the League of the South and the Southern Party or Southern Independence Party that oppose the Republicans and favor dissolution of the Union or something close to it. In the old days SHPAC might well have been called a "front group" and should probably be regarded as a "Trojan horse" for some pretty unpalatable groups.

You said that the media focused on the flag in an effort to make Georgians look like "a bunch of ignorant redneck KKK sympathizers." It seems to me that that implies you give some credibility to the idea that supporting the flag indicates that. That is why I asked you if you concurred with that sentiment. If you believe that, then you are an anti-Southern bigot. Please explain to me how my logic is faulty. Perhaps the problem is that my reading comprehension is too good.

What exactly is unpalatable about the League of the South and the Southern Party? The LOS is the leader of the very honorable movement for Southern Independence from the federal leviathan. The Southern Party opposes the Republicans because it is a real conservative party and the Republican Party is not. Unless you somehow believe that drunken sailor spending, spiraling debt, and a complete disregard for Constitutional limits on government is conservative. Funny we used to have another name for that philosophy. It was called Socialism.

The media loves to portray white Southerners as ignorant, hate-filled rednecks. You haven't noticed that?

Since when does noticing that make one a bigot?

In my area, it seems like people still resent being denied a vote.

Well, *I* voted, and I only got TWO choices. The nasty King Roy flag, and the current flag.

I'm no fan of big spending or high deficits or excessive centralization, but breaking up the country would be a very radical step, not a conservative one. It would mean an end to much of what Americans value today. Nor would it necessarily promote greater individual liberty.

A lot of people who are attached to our union are getting taken in by people who claim to support a heritage of bravery under fire, but who actually have a much more sweeping agenda.

Roy Barnes even went to the state wide GAE meeting and told the teachers there he didn't need teachers' votes to win. After they went back and told their schools that, I don't think King Roy got very many votes from teachers or their families.

That was the tipping point for his loss. And he did alienate EVERYONE in the state. Then expected to still win. Smarmy king roy.

Nice flags.

Is that the new flag they're proposing?
