What exactly is unpalatable about the League of the South and the Southern Party? The LOS is the leader of the very honorable movement for Southern Independence from the federal leviathan. The Southern Party opposes the Republicans because it is a real conservative party and the Republican Party is not. Unless you somehow believe that drunken sailor spending, spiraling debt, and a complete disregard for Constitutional limits on government is conservative. Funny we used to have another name for that philosophy. It was called Socialism.

I'm no fan of big spending or high deficits or excessive centralization, but breaking up the country would be a very radical step, not a conservative one. It would mean an end to much of what Americans value today. Nor would it necessarily promote greater individual liberty.

A lot of people who are attached to our union are getting taken in by people who claim to support a heritage of bravery under fire, but who actually have a much more sweeping agenda.
