they shove their opinions in my face.

That's why so many are turning them off and turning on Fox. : )

No, it's Moops, not Mapes (/seinfeld reference)

Thanks, guys, for the ping. I knew I could count on you keeping me up to date on a day I couldn't get to the forum early. Just listened to Nightline skewering CBS and Rather (Why wasn't Rather fired, too?) They even had a segment on Schadenfreude, LOL. In the eerily accurate words of Chris Bury: It's more like "There but for the grace of God go I."
Please join me in a toast to Buckhead and the FReepers he mobilized.

Shame on Thornburgh's "the main problem here was haste." Umm, wasn't it FIVE YEARS Mary Mapes was working this story?

Good Evening ntnychik:
You've been so quiet, we almost forgot about you.
I've been up to ears in this and that and haven't been
to active myself. How have you been?

To late for any of this. If I were any Fox reporter, anchor, etc. I would be very suspect on any offers from CBS or any network. The money might be good but past experience shows that when networks hire cable news people they hardly use them. Case in point ABC hired Claire Shippman from NBC who also did a lot for MSNBC and CNBC and I think was the White House correspondent and where is she now? She was supposed to be groomed to be taking over Good Morning America. Then there was CNN's Mary Alice Williams hired by the networks, never used. List goes on.

IBM Composers had proportional spacing. The one I used in the early '70's did not have the superscript option to make the tiny "th". I was in a publications department and had the only one in my large company. This was an expensive machine and difficult to use. It's been written elsewhere that the TANG did not have such typewriters. Anyone who had any other kind of typewriter available would have used it for routine memos to self; Composers were such a pain. The Composers had different type fonts, such as Prestige Elite or Letter Gothic and different pitch choices. I never encountered New Times Roman until personal computers came out. You could manually create a same-size superscript by rolling the platen half way, but it would be difficult to do any two alike.

ROTFLOL Gotta love the key words! BUMP Mapes used to work here in the Seattle area where she had an incident of doing the very same thing: a totally unreliable witness who perjured himself!
