The only "diversity" CBS does not allow is the hiring of Conservatives. Oh, yeah.

Why is CBS not pursuing legal measures against those who conned them with fake federal documents? The financial harm is beyond calculation and would make any law firm drop all asbestos and Vioxx work with a case as strong as the damage done to CBS and 60 minutes! That is unless they might be afraid of discovery.................

there was a commerical that had reference to the 60 Minutes show that aired like 2 days after Another confusing factor is that several ads were shown on FNC (all I watch normally) to be commented on as news -- as opposed to running as ads. So sometimes I wasn't clear in my mind as to what was run as an ad and what wasn't. (Didn't Kerry make one ad that he just wanted to show up on the news and not run as an ad at all?)

Just heard this on the way home from the gym.
They read directly from the report and this jumped out:
"Mr. Bush and Senator Kerry....".
Even in their attempt to exonerate themselves, they can't hide their bias. Kerry gets the title while Bush's more important title is ignored. Okaaaay.

Hackworth is a strong front-runner in the "I wish I could buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth" category. I went to his website once (when he was supposed to be breaking some story) -- never have I seen a more shameless display of self-promotion. It was actually embarrassing to look at.

I think Hackworth got played. His opinion that "they're genuine" referred to the content, which I bet was read to him. Now, nevermind for a moment how specious that conclusion really is, his quote 'genuine' was being used by SeeBS to imply Hackworth had examined the physical document and concluded it was genuine in form as well as content.
In other words, Hackworth is an ass, but his comments were being used out of context by the greater asses at SeeBS.

Brilliant! Let C-BS investigate itself. I bet Ted Bundy wished he had the same leeway. They can huddle like roaches in the dark planning there reaction to being caught and in the end push a couple of scape goats into the light to be crushed but they fail to see the larger picture. CBS has to prove their ability to present the news properly to a nation who has faith in what they report. This is nothing more than a Dinosaur in its death throws unable to come to grips with its inevitable demise. This is not over as they hope it will be, but this will be a slow tortured death enjoyed by the right

but the documents were probably supplied to Burke (the crazy national guard guy--whatever his name is) by the Kerry campaign, I think his name was Burkett -- confusing because of another Burkett associated with the Swift Vets.

the Panel cannot conclude that a political agenda at 60 Minutes Wednesday drove either the timing of the airing of the segment or its content.
And they can't conclude that the documents were fake. They are not going to give the FCC any ammunition. How does one go about filing a complaint with the FCC and how many do they have to receive before they will investigate.

I like this part:
Page 97: Discussions about When to Contact the White House.
Discussion is between Mary Mapes, Kathy Sciere, Dotty Lynch and Janet Leissner. One or more of the 3 say Mapes said this about her source:
Asked whether Democrats had been involved in handing over the documents, Mapes said "Texas Republicans of a different chromosone" were her source.
I predict this will become the HIGHLIGHT QUOTE of this report!
LOL!
What's the chromosone, Kenneth?!

I did like the part where Les Monves clearly linked Rather's resignation to his part in the fraud (as opposed to the ever-popular "stepping down to spend more time with his family").

He volunteered too much opinion.
He's neck deep in this.
Reread where Hack offers up thus:
Second, Colonel Hackworth concluded that, by not taking his physical, then-Lieutenant Bush was insubordinate and would have been treated more harshly had he been an unconnected Lieutenant.
Third, Colonel Hackworth stated repeatedly throughout his interview that then-Lieutenant Bush was AWOL and that a person would have to reach that conclusion when reviewing the documents unless youre the village idiot. Colonel Hackworth appeared to be referring to the fact that he had seen no evidence that President Bush was present for duty once he left for Alabama in 1972, although he did not articulate clearly how he reached his conclusion. Finally, Colonel Hackworth concluded that the bottom line here is is the abuse of power. He said that [I]ts how people up at the top can . . . lean on the little people.
