Times: Hillary's Toughest Opponent 'Herself'
Newsmax.com ^ | 12/25/04 | unknown

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is already the frontrunner for her party's presidential nomination in 2008.

But to win the general election, she'll have to overcome opposition from a significant number of voters who absolutely can't stand her.

Survey after survey shows that approximately one-third of New Yorkers has a negative opinion of Clinton, the New York Times said Saturday.

"The voters who disapprove of Clinton are numerous and unshakable, and they have been around so long that they have a name in political circles. Hillary haters."

The former first lady's negative image is largely driven by the perception that she traded on her husband's marital misconduct to gain power and influence in government.

While Mrs. Clinton has largely overcome that image with her constituents, outside of New York the percentage of Hillary haters remains problematically high.

In a recent Marist College Institute for Public Opinion survey, roughly 4 of 10 Americans said they disapprove of her.

"There's work for her to do nationally," Marist poll director Lee Miringoff told the Times. "Beyond her appeal to the Democratic base, there is a need for her to build bridges to reach out to moderate Republicans and independent voters if she hopes to succeed."

Mrs. Clinton, however, remains undeterred.

Asked recently whether her divisive image has Republicans hoping that she becomes the Democrats' next presidential nominee, the former first lady told NBC's "Today Show," "We have a president who is quite polarizing - and very successful, I might add."

Her FACE, of course!

This face?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1304309/posts?q=1&&page=51 -- post # 58

Strange similarity? ........Hillary votes for abortions, and this weird, demented woman goes in another direction.

Hill's being characterized as one of the big winners of '04. Obama, too. I guess it's the RAT dream ticket.

... once again selling out the southern democrats.

They know that the 'rats along the MS. River will vote D even if it is Satan himself... just as long as he has a D after his name.

I'm unaware of anyone in the "R" party right now who fits that definition.

Mia T/Buckhead ........... a fine ticket? We'll work on the name recognition everywhere but here.

;-)

The list is long and very telling about a woman who would and did do anything to gain power in our government…

You cannot be any more correct, but the secret to any possible success in exposing her is finding ways for the average voter to hear the list (or part of it) --see post 73.

It's not going to be easy.

Hillary has deep roots in the 1960's radical socialist movement which could be exposed with a swift boat vets type of campaign. Many of her "supporters" from that era have also risen to positions of influence in academia and government and are vulnerable to exposure

Yes you are right. But Kerry's trail was much easier to illustrate to the public...... and that wasn't so easy after all. There are not too many John O'Neills out there. What a MAN!

I hope you're right about her being exposed, but she's slicker than 'Slick'.

The so-called Hillary haters need to tread lightly and be sure that the Republicans select a solid candidate to face her in '08.

The next election could twist into the opposite of '04 --- ABC [Anybody But Clinton]. If the Pubbies try that and select a Dole (Frist, Linsday, McCain, Guliani, Gingrich, etc.) they will see a repeat of '96 (without an incumbent).

Pubs need some new faces that are a bit right (not left, Arnold) of center. The same-o faces won't prevail against the Clinton Machine.

Pubs need some new faces

You're right, but it's going to be hard to find one in just four years.

She belongs NOWHERE near the presidency, or government in general.

The MOST under-reported item about Hitlery is this, although us FReepers know it well . . . She decided to run for the Senate from New Yawk rather than from her home state of Arkansas for one reason -- Arkansas is a southern state and by-and-large southern voters place a high priority on morals, values, and other integrity issues and she knew the people who knew her best would toss her aside like the loser she is. Whereas New Yawk's Democratics will elect a Pet Rock if they're somehow famous . . . or infamous in Hitlery's case. New Yawk is the perfect place for her -- she has the chutzpah of a Rock Star and the morals of an alley cat.

But us conservatives will bury her in a National Election. We know how to organize now and eight years of hers and Pee Wee's Co-Presidency fiasco was almost more than we could bear. No way in hell will we allow her to even set foot in the Oval Office again.

Hillary may aspire to be the first female President, but for reasons cited in the article (only the tip of the iceberg) she will never realize that dream. Her political aspirations, beyond being a carpet bagging U.S. senator from a very blue NY state ... are toast.

Absolutely right Cai....we must remain vigilant. Only 4 of 10 (according to this poll) disapprove. Call me blonde, but I don't think that's a majority. It will take all we have to defeat this viper in '08.

Absolutely right indeed because it must be remembered that there is a percentage of the population that would vote for her no matter what she has done or will do in the future.

That percentage is probably around the same 47% area that voted for the lying traitor John Kerry.

If 47% of the people voted for him, the same 47% will vote for anybody the dim party puts before them.

She belongs NOWHERE near the presidency, or government in general. And, it would be nice if the WOMEN of America wake up to who this "woman" really is. I'm sure the old media will be helpful in shining light on the real 'Lady in Pink' over the next four years. (sarcasm off)

Just ask her to release her sealed college dissertation, then the WOMEN would know who she really IS!??!

Like john sKerry's form. 180, it will NEVER happens!!!

She has been "networking" since back in the late 60's. She will have a network of people behind her that is incredibly huge.......... and BEHIND her is quite a large area.

And, when Martha Stewart comes out of jail, she will be one that will line up with her!!!

All we have to do is remember the eight year disaster that the Clintons inflicted upon the nation. Can the Republic survive another four or even worse, eight years? Absolutely not, not ever, nohow! It's time to start campaigning against the very idea that she might run.
