New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is already the frontrunner for her party's presidential nomination in 2008.
But to win the general election, she'll have to overcome opposition from a significant number of voters who absolutely can't stand her.
Survey after survey shows that approximately one-third of New Yorkers has a negative opinion of Clinton, the New York Times said Saturday.
"The voters who disapprove of Clinton are numerous and unshakable, and they have been around so long that they have a name in political circles. Hillary haters."
The former first lady's negative image is largely driven by the perception that she traded on her husband's marital misconduct to gain power and influence in government.
While Mrs. Clinton has largely overcome that image with her constituents, outside of New York the percentage of Hillary haters remains problematically high.
In a recent Marist College Institute for Public Opinion survey, roughly 4 of 10 Americans said they disapprove of her.
"There's work for her to do nationally," Marist poll director Lee Miringoff told the Times. "Beyond her appeal to the Democratic base, there is a need for her to build bridges to reach out to moderate Republicans and independent voters if she hopes to succeed."
Mrs. Clinton, however, remains undeterred.
Asked recently whether her divisive image has Republicans hoping that she becomes the Democrats' next presidential nominee, the former first lady told NBC's "Today Show," "We have a president who is quite polarizing - and very successful, I might add."
Everyone remember when the word was that Hillary didn't stand a chance in New York for the Senate? Senator Hillary has a plan, the people in place and the power.
I will not underestimate her.
Not to mention the outstanding number of shrinks who say she`s a bonafide sociopath. Only in New York would there be enough liberals to elect a bonafide psychotic into the Senate who would get her husband to pardon 17 FALN members who bombed their city 130 times (hey it was only 130 times) And all so she could buy a few votes..and she did it all before she was even elected or even lived in New York. What`s the definition of barging in and aiming for the morons?.. "Uh, so what if she puts our lives in danger. Duuuh..So what if she has absolutely no record other than promoting herself, I`m gonna vote for her! Duuuh!" I don`t know what`s worse; The people in Mass. voting for Ted Kennedy over and over and over and over for over 40 years or the idiots in Washington who voted for Marion Barry for a second term after he was caught smoking crack in a motel room with a hooker. Hey, after all, it was only crack. I hear OJ is climbing the walls out of lack of attention. I guess he never considered running for office in any one of those three states. Obviously he would win by a landslide.
That's the "Vagina Vote" ...
This should help you with your answer to that!
*******
If Hillary Clinton's New York state Listening Tour had been any further scripted, it would have to have been registered with the Writers Guild.
She'll be given the love-in treatment that the snivelling pawn Tim Russert gave her about a year ago, as he sucked up to her and purred like a little frightened tub of conman goooo!
Right...... get this!

"I have to confess that it's crossed my mind that you could not be a Republican and a Christian." - First "Co-President" Lady Hillary R. Clinton, source: Richmond Times-Dispatch, page A-10, March 1, 1997

"She goes to state dinners with her lesbian friends,
Makes big investments with high dividends,
Forgets to pay taxes but then makes amends,
That's why the First Lady is a tramp."
-Don Imus
L.O.L......get ready Hillary...we've only just begun......
While I never count the Clinton's out, it is hard for me to believe that she could build any momentum under a primary system, especially one that starts in states like Iowa and NH. Then a swing through the South? My guess is that an Evan Bayh or similar Dem could trounce her.
You have"NAILED"it!If Shrillary gets any"TOUGH"questions from reporters,she will"LOSE IT" pretty damn quick!!She will bring up that"VAST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY"crap in a heartbeat!!!
Not at all. She is extremely capable .................. capable of the anti-American creations of a narcissistic 'castle communist'.

"As a lifelong active liberal Democrat, I find the choice between HRC & Mayor Giuliani not difficult,".... "In all our campaigns, we were trying to work for decent and intelligent government. Neither Clinton can give us that. It is not in their character; and their hands are too dirty." -- Bartle Bull, a lawyer and writer who served as Robert F. Kennedy's New York City campaign manager in 1968, wrote in an opinion piece published in the New York Post.
I would too!It would be DELICIOUS to see the Sh*t kicked out of her(politically,I mean)!!!
Is that Hanoi Jane? If so all those tucks and lifts have her looking like Connie Stevens. Yoi!
Wait until they ask the question - Knowing what you know now about Bill Clinton's sexual conduct in the White House, would you want him to be First Lady and have access to all those interns AGAIN?
I don't know. She hates to lose, and there is no one more well organized.
I see that 1969 LIFE magazine article as serious BIG and OLD MEDIA foreshadowing that she is to be the president. I pray that I am wrong. As I wrote earlier, I've read about a dozen books on her. She's very persistent and ruthless. I don't see the Democrat Party stopping her in the primary season in 2008.
Yes, remember this ....

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Matt Lauer ---
LAUER: Let me take you and your husband out of this for a second. Bill and Hillary Clinton aren't involved in this story. If an American president had an adulterous liaison in the White House and lied to cover it up, should the American people ask for his resignation?
HR CLINTON: Well, they should certainly be concerned about it.
LAUER: Should they ask for his resignation?
HR CLINTON: Well, I think that if all that were proven true, I think that would be a very serious offense.
Never really answered the question .......... as usual.
Absolutely right Cai....we must remain vigilant. Only 4 of 10 (according to this poll) disapprove. Call me blonde, but I don't think that's a majority. It will take all we have to defeat this viper in '08.
This is so true.
Unfortunately Congress is riddled with people that fit the above description. Many are deliberate "enemies" of this country, bent on Her destruction, and many are simply followers that are controlled by "feel good" policies and the overwhelming desire to be in positions of power, getting re-elected, and feeding at the public trough.
This is not simply a problem of our times, it has been going on throughout our history.
Like the Swiftee's and other watchdog groups, the word must be gotten out and restated over and over, until enough of us get the message.
As here, on Free Republic, we will have disagreements, but the fact remains that when all issues are put on the table the one that is paramount is the continuance of the United States as a country of power and influence, for good, throughout the world. All else is secondary.
But alas ... I ramble ;)
It is never a question of choice with Hillary. She knew everything that was going on. That was her business, and she did it well.
As Steve Croft of 60 'Too Many' Minutes said,
"Hillary is tougher and more disciplined than Bill is. And she's more analytical. Among his faults, he has a tendency not to think of the consequences of the things he says. I think she knows. She's got a a ten-second delay. If something comes to her mind she doesn't think will play right, she cuts it off before anyone knows she's thinking it."
Personally, I think Croft gives her too much credit here. She flips out when confronted, she cannot take the heat, but she never has to face heat. She is definately not "cool".
Let's let Laura Ingraham interview her for a couple of hours. LOL!
Can you imagine a woman who can't take the heat being president?
With all due respects, what, or whom Bill screws, or does not have sex with, is of little consequence to this country.
His being in a place of power does.
Please ......... ramble on!
;-)
