Forty-two percent (42%) of Democrats say New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the party's strongest Presidential candidate in 2008. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 16% think 2004 nominee John Kerry would be the best bet for Democrats in the next Presidential contest. Thirteen percent (13%) named Kerry's running mate, John Edwards.
Among unaffiliated voters, 27% named Senator Clinton as the Democrats' strongest candidate. Sixteen percent (16%) named Senator Edwards and 10% Senator Kerry.
No other candidate reached double digits among Democrats or unaffiliated voters in the Rasmussen Reports survey. None of the three "Red State" candidates reached 5%. Those potential candidates were Evan Bayh from Indiana, Bill Richardson from New Mexico, and Mark Warner from Virgina.
Senator Clinton is seen most positively by liberal voters. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of liberals believe she is the Democrats' best bet.
The support for Senator Clinton may create a conflict with another perception of Democratic voters--51% of the nation's Democrats say it would be best for their party to nominate a more centrist candidate in 2008.

It seems like Clinton is trying to get her arms around the immigration issue also.
I do think either a Kery or Clinton run would be another loser. But I'd rather see a Democrat nominated who would have some reasonable ability to govern and some halfway decent programs. It just scares me that WHOEVER they nominate will get a large percentage of the vote. (I can't fathom that Kerry got any more than 20%, really, but that's the reality.) The worse a candidate they nominate, the easier a Republican win will be, but the "anything can happen" factor scares me.
then again, any Democrat who was "in the ballpark" on the issues I care about would never be nominated . . . and has probably crossed over to the Republicans already.

Don't sell the beast short, she's undergoing a remake, will come out hard on illegal immigration, Bush will have left a Supreme Court packed with young healthy conservatives.
The "Guest Worker" program will be exposed as the nonsense that it is, voters split the ticket. Republicans will end up in control of Congress. Just payback for Slick Willie's sending in Armed Agents to drag out a little boy, and enraging the Holocaust refugee voters in Flora-duh.

Now she is moving to the center, claiming to be an evangelical Christian, a conservative Christian and a southerner at heart. She has chosen to make illegal immigration "her" issue. We need to keep letting people know about the evil queen and everything she has done before she succeeds in remaking her image to meet the '04 exit polls, because we all know the MSM will help her do it.

Hillary has more baggage than Samsonite, but the right set of circumstances (a weak Republican candidate, bad ecomonic conditions leading up to the election, foreign policy disasters, etc.) could make it harder to beat her. There are so damn many variables in presidential elections that no one can make accurate predictions at this point.

Somehow, during her campaign,I see the Former Twelfth Lady
discovering that she's the descendant of African slaves.

Oh, please let it be true! We couldn't ask for a better present than a Hillary candidacy!

We will continue to be treated to these polls for the foreseeable years. It's all part of ginning up the fervor among the D base. This is just evidence of what I've been saying all along - she's all they've got.....
To: RWR8189
Very true. What's even more scary is that the GOP has no answer, yet.

My personal favorite was last week when Piano Legs declared that she was an "evangelical" and "conservative" Christian. Im sure that evangelicals everywhere accept her as one of their own!

But Series, four years is a long time. remember The President only won by 3 to 4 %. All the Beast has to do is fool that percentage of the voters. Nobody, but nobody trusts her so, so the Republicans get a hugh lock on both houses of Congress.

They said the same thing about Kerry, and look where that got them. Bring her on! Let's go ahead and name our next Republican President of 2008!

Are you surprised that Dean didn't get double digit support? I thought he had a hard-core 35% of so of the dem vote..the numbers don't sound right..they deserted him so soon??..or is this poll therefore very questionable?
