I'd say Cheney is being a bit conservative with his prediction. More like 58%.

He's sandbagging. I put my money on 54%.

But I like your attitude!

The thing to remember is a large number of those 47 percenters for Kerry are located in NY, CA and MA - those are really nice states in which to waste Kerry votes since they are already in Kerry's pocket.

The 52% that Bush gets are from the states he needs to pick up the electoral plurality. Can't get much better than that! That's why even though the 52-47 spread may not seem large - the electoral count will be up in the 300's for Bush.

I agree. Cheney shouldn't have bit on the bait. No good can come of making such a public prediction. Some swing voters can see it as a sign of arrogance, however wrong that may be.

Actually we have a couple of demokrats who we are suppressing from voting too. We keep getting calls from the local dems asking for otto, saying they want to register him. We won't let them register him or our other dog either. :)

NO!! - It will be OUTSIDE the margin of error!!

If it's inside the margin of error, Kerry will declare victory and try to steal it.

52-47 has been my call too. I'm also calling 300-302 electoral votes.

I'd love to see their internal polling. I just don't get how anyone can honestly think Bush will lose this race. He's BEATING Kerry in Minnesota (+2), New Mexico (+5), Wisconsin (+3), Iowa (+5), and Hawaii (+1), he's tied in Florida and Ohio (although two new polls out in OH have him up by 4 - Rasmussen - and 5 - Zogby), and he's seriously tied or slightly trailing in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.

Colorado isn't even close, no poll has showed Kerry within 5 points in the past six polls, Kerry just pulled ads there today. Nevada, supposedly, has a 2 to 1 Republican lead in early voting and Bush is still polling above +4 in most polls. Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, and Tennessee are all out of the picture now.

Essentially Kerry's going to need a straight flush here.

I have a really hard time fathoming many "it's in the bag, I'm not going to bother voting" this time around.

I think most Bush supporters want to cast their vote and "send a message" and there ain't nothing going to stop 'em. Not just a message of defeat Kerry, but a message to the beyond vile media.

My head says Bush will win by a good margin. However, it's impossible not to be affected by the massive sliming over the past year by the MSM, Micheal Moore, the Hollywood crowd, the 527s, George Soros, etc.

I 100% agree. I live in MA so you all know what my vote for President Bush means, but I want to send a strong message to Kerry and his klan! We have some house seats up and I am voting straight Republican this year. I am sick and tired of the libs in this state and want my voice heard.

its not the hard core supporters I am worried about - we can't win with the base alone, we need motivated independents to get out and vote for Bush too. predicting victory as "matter of fact" is not what we need for GOTV amongst that group.

Thanks to sandalwood, Mrs. Vigilanteman and I are doing a shift at poll watching. I've got more vacation days than I can reasonably use up before the end of the year anyway.

The precinct we've been assigned has a large number of nursing homes and institutions for the mentally challenged, so we are going to be on the alert for busloads and vanloads of ineligible voters who have "helpers" accompany them into the voting booths.

Think about it: if each CA Freeper just locked 4 Democrats in his or her basement until November 3

Ahem, as one of those CA Freepers, I must remind you that basements are quite uncommon in CA. On the other hand, my Tuff Shed can accomodate 4 or 5 Democrats no problem.

In a pinch, you can put me down for 3 more if I can smuggle 'em through the gate to my unit at the rental storage yard.

Ugh. Don't remind me he's on the Apple board. Between the politics of those running that company is Bill Gates lust for the UN's population control, attempt to get CA to mortgage itself for the phoney "embryonic stem cell" research and unrelenting abortions, you pretty much need to scrub yourself clean anytime you touch a computer. Grrr.
