Not one hour ago, I posted my very first post on Free Republic: "Am I the ONLY One Who Noticed This at the Debates?
I received many interesting comments, a few hysterical ones, several awfully kind "Welcome to Free Republic" comments (for which I'd like to thank you bloggers again)and finally....
I also received this one very rude comment:
"You're really stretching. Is this the only reason you joined Free Republic. To post this?"
So I answered this blogger by telling that they "inspired me to post again tonight."
What I want to tell you, fellow FR bloggers, is why I joined, since I am excited about it. And I think you will be, too. [At least those of you who are really in here as true conservatives, and not liberals throwing darts, pretending to be conservatives. Don't think I was fooled for one minute.]
So here's the story:
Two weeks ago I called the Founder of the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, Admiral Roy Hoffmann and asked if I could interview him.
I cried when he answered the phone and I heard his voice and he confirmed that, yes, he was not just Roy Hoffmann, but ADMIRAL Roy Hoffmann, and I knew I had the right man. I cried because the Admiral and his Swiftees are my heros for what they are doing now. Standing for the truth in this fiery election, serving our country one more time, in spite of the flack they keep taking, to warn us of the TRUE John Kerry.
The Admiral was as kind as he could be. He granted me an interview. He met me on Wednesday, September 22nd. He presented me with a copy of Unfit for Command, and he personally signed it to me and my husband.
I am now in the process of writing an article as a result of that interview which I plan to post very soon on the Free Republic. I wanted to finish it sooner, but as I wrote the Admiral this week in a note, I want to do the very best blog I can which is worthy of the time he gave me.
This is why I have joined the Free Republic.
Looking forward to your interview posting. I, too, really admire the Swifties.
I learned how to speed read with collateral reading requirements in college.
Reading a book meant going cover to cover in whatever time was left after doing the primary reqding requirements. (I have 6 minutes left and a 600 page book.....speedreading defined as fanning the pages. ;>)
Free Republic is an online forum. You've read everything on the front page right?
Get a life, and leave Aim Higher alone.
I couldn't agree with you more. Go Swiftees!
I just hope America sees the elephant on the ballot November 2!
Bob, thanks for the clarification.
thank you!
Ah!
Well that explains it then...............
:-)
Can anyone double check this with Admiral Hoffman?
Thank you for welcoming me, and I agree that the Admiral and his Swiftees are singularly responsible for turning the election. That's why they're my heros.
Double check with the Admiral. And even if he confirms it, it still doesnt prove anything.
Perhaps you and Aim might want to review the rules for posting and recent threads posted by the site owner and moderators regarding vanities, threads which should not be posted in breaking news and the effect these have on site performance. Here, I'll even help you.
Way too Many duplicates and vanities. Please read - again. (Welcome Newbies)
Now you back off.
Hi Hanna, I certainly didn't mean to imply that anyone who disagrees with me is a liberal. I was only referring to the disparaging comment the FReeper left "You're really stretching. Is this the only reason you joined FR, to post this?" which to me is the sort of comment you leave when you want to discourage a conservative from posting. I could be wrong, that was my gut. Anyway, bottom line: it just inspired me to write the post about my upcoming article on the Swiftees -- which WAS the reason I joined. That's all.
lol!!!
Word on the street (or rather, my local gun club) is that the Navy gave Kerry those Purple Hearts to get him out of Vietnam.
For what it's worth, I went through a stage where I was posting a lot (I think that was when Mrs. t-t was gone for a week or two and I was drinking more beer than usual. Well, a LOT more beer than usual.) but ended up backing off and lurking more often than not once I read some of "my" stuff later.
But then again, I'm not gifted so much in the whole proper grammar, sentence structure, etc. as I should be. (SEE??)
Please ignore the rudeness of some people here. You don't have to prove anything to anyone.
I don't think a true Red-Blooded American would insult a lady trying to introduce herself. And there are always those who take the anonymity of being an Unknown Freeper for a license to be boorish.
Most of us can remember how hesitant we were when we first signed up and it seemed like everyone knew each other.
Your participation in our forum discussions will show your mettle and like most Freepers, I personally am looking forward to your interview with Admiral Hoffman and proud that it will be introduced to the world on Free Republic.
Welcome Aim Higher.
Yep, we've got a lot of newbies & that's great. BUT, oldtimers - please don't be so rude when chastising them for not knowing the rules - we were all new sometime and I don't think anyone can say they never made any mistakes in posting.
Newbies - don't get your feelings hurt - the unkind remarks and chastisements are mild compared to the 'FLAME WARS' we used to have in the "good ol' days". We didn't have moderators then and it could really heat up. Some of the worst and most cantankerous were booted and then formed their own group & website.
Nowadays, it's pretty tame and a lot more structured. Topics and posts are easier to find & breaking news is always among the favorites.
Aim Higher - if you get your interview published online or in a major news source, post it in breaking news with a link or source. If this forum is the only place you can publish, then use vanity (there might be a better topic or multiple topics you may want to use).
Welcome to all newbies & for the oldtimers - let's help them out with kind instructions & links.
