My Personal Interview With Swiftees for Truth Founder,Admiral Roy Hoffman
October 2, 2004 | Aim Higher

Posted on 10/02/2004 6:29:00 PM PDT by Aim Higher

Not one hour ago, I posted my very first post on Free Republic: "Am I the ONLY One Who Noticed This at the Debates?

I received many interesting comments, a few hysterical ones, several awfully kind "Welcome to Free Republic" comments (for which I'd like to thank you bloggers again)and finally....

I also received this one very rude comment:

"You're really stretching. Is this the only reason you joined Free Republic. To post this?"

So I answered this blogger by telling that they "inspired me to post again tonight."

What I want to tell you, fellow FR bloggers, is why I joined, since I am excited about it. And I think you will be, too. [At least those of you who are really in here as true conservatives, and not liberals throwing darts, pretending to be conservatives. Don't think I was fooled for one minute.]

So here's the story:

Two weeks ago I called the Founder of the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, Admiral Roy Hoffmann and asked if I could interview him.

I cried when he answered the phone and I heard his voice and he confirmed that, yes, he was not just Roy Hoffmann, but ADMIRAL Roy Hoffmann, and I knew I had the right man. I cried because the Admiral and his Swiftees are my heros for what they are doing now. Standing for the truth in this fiery election, serving our country one more time, in spite of the flack they keep taking, to warn us of the TRUE John Kerry.

The Admiral was as kind as he could be. He granted me an interview. He met me on Wednesday, September 22nd. He presented me with a copy of Unfit for Command, and he personally signed it to me and my husband.

I am now in the process of writing an article as a result of that interview which I plan to post very soon on the Free Republic. I wanted to finish it sooner, but as I wrote the Admiral this week in a note, I want to do the very best blog I can which is worthy of the time he gave me.

This is why I have joined the Free Republic.

!!!, Thats so amazing. All of the Swiftees are hero's, and good men, of course except for the one who sold them ALL out, John Kerry.

I'm like jealous! Congrats!, God bless you, and God bless those veterans for finally talking about the elephant in the room, Kerry's war record.

Welcome aboard. I'm looking forward to the report from your interview with the admiral.

One correction, though. FR is not a blog; it is a forum. We are forum members, not bloggers.

We are forum members, not bloggers

Bears repeating. I think many of the newbies the last few months have the idea that Free republic is an "open blog" to post whatever, wherever. But that's why the site owners put a choice for "Bloggers and Personal", which is actually where this vanity should be posted. Plus it includes a subtle personal attack on another member, accusing them of being a liberal(?), so I question this post in it's entirety.

Congratulations on your interview! Looking forward to reading what you learned from Admiral Hoffman.

As far as rudeness on FR...recently the forum has been deluged by newcomers- many of them posing as conservatives...it becomes tedious sorting through the Global Testers and sometimes we get a tad short:)

Welcome!

Hey Bob,
I'll keep the Forum in mind : D
But I have to ask....why the big Forum vs. blogger differential. I mean if I may be so bold as to ask. I'm sure it's probably because the blogger thing has a negative connotation of naval-gazing e-journaling narcisissm, but really "Bloggers"...and that is the term being used in the press...are the ones being credited with bringing the mighty Dan down. And the Admiral considered me as having some sort of real "clout" as a blogger. So I certainly don't want to go against the grain. The Forum it is. Julius Caesar and all that. Friends Romans, countrmen..But to quote the Bard "A rose by any other name is still as sweet," if'n ya catch my drift. : D Thanks for keeping this newbie on track, Bob!! Don't wanna be a persona non grata from day one - ha!

Because I'm a newbie who has absolutely no idea what she's doing. Please be patient with me, Unknown Freeper. Thanks. And sorry for the irritation.

Why don't you send an email to the site owner and ask them instead of asking out here?

Signing up and causing trouble is not a good way to start if you really are sincere about posting here.

Personally, I think you're a troll.

why don't you prove me otherwise?

Good grief! If you don't know what you're doing, then stop! Read the instructions/rules at the home page for FR! Quit while you're behind!

Good going. The Swift Vets are a Godsend to America, now and when they were in Vietnam.

Thanks so much for understanding my idiocy, xzins. That should have been the headline, no doubt. Not real sure how to navigate this. Don't even get the "thread" business. Will get it down in short order though, hopefully.

An internet forum, such as FreeRepublic, is based on its members posting news articles (or excerpts) from other sources and allowing comments to be made by other members of the forum. Self-written articles are termed vanity posts and are generally kept to a minimum, at least as much as possible. FreeRepublic was founded as an open (but moderated) forum in the late 1990's. AFAIK, FR predates blogs by several years.

On the other hand, a web log (or blog), is an individual's site where he or she creates the content and allows others to comment on it.
