Yeah, wrong time to be on crutches. I cooked a Thanksgiving dinner 2 years ago on crutches...this year, I'm letting someone else have the honor. The one thing I am dreading is Christmas shopping! I am praying for no snow. LOL Have to get it done before the beginning of the year when the deductible kicks back in...YUCK!
I am blessed too by the many good friends I have made here on FR. It will help the time fly!

Bless your heart! I had to make a Christmas supper when I was choked up with bronchitis a few years a go.
Do you Christmas shopping online. I bought hex signs for my relatives for next to nothing at www.hexsigns.com. They are great gifts for the folks on your list who have everything----like my parents and wealthy brother!
They are all hand-painted and really nice. I bought one for hubby for his new barn this past summer.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Thank God for kids! My girls are set and ready to help. Maybe if I need to, I can saddle up my puppy and ride him through the house.
Thanks for the shopping hint...I will definitely check out that site!!
Thanks so much for the good wishes!

I have to agree about the TG for kids! My little guy actually likes to dry the pots and pans! And the middle one sets the table without being asked.
That site also has cookbooks and links to other Amish sites with quilts and handicrafts.
You are very welcome! You're one of my favorite FReepers.

My oldest will be busy with her new baby (still waiting for his appearance)...the two I have home are 16 and 12. It will be hard while they're at school, but my mom has offered her help too. It's all good! My daughter will be able to bring the baby over for me to snuggle up with too. I can't wait!
I do believe you may have solved my shopping dilemma. Thanks!
Oh, and you are just as sweet as chocolate! You are one of my favorites too! :)

I just love babies! My step daughter had her first last summer (a girl) but, she is in Alaska so no snuggling for me. *sniff*
I did send her a teaset and a dalmations little jacket. It is too fun to buy girl presents after 20+years of buying GI Joes and Tonka trucks.
I'm sure glad to help with shopping! That site is great for inexpensive (read: tightwad) yet unusual gifts.
You're a doll! Heal swiftly!

Yes, babies are awesome. I am really anxious. Oh! That's right...don't you have 3 boys? I have the 3 girls and can't wait to buy Tonka trucks and GI Joes! LOL I bet that Dalmatian coat is soooooooooo cute on her! It's sad you don't get to snuggle with her all the time...I do hope you get frequent visits and lots of pics! Little girls are so much fun to dress up.
As for the shopping, the more tightwad, the better! If I can accomplish most of it on the net, that will be a major relief.
I'm sure my knee will heal very rapidly...part of it will be moving a bone that is misaligned, and I drink chocolate milk by the gallon...no shortage of calcium here! LOL

OMG!! Dare I ask what's up with Fluffy? I get the same look on my face when hubby's in the doghouse. I didn't know there was another scowl like that possible.
Welcome, Michael. We're honored to have you here. How are things in my old stomping ground Hotlanta?

Trixie is in the hospital. They are going to keep her for 5 days...and will be keeping her sedated.
They believe this is necessary to keep her from becoming paralyzed. They believe she has injured her back.
I am really worried about my baby girl!! She is like one of my children. I am in tears over this!! Please keep her in your thoughts...and if you are so inclined...please say a prayer for her.
Bless you.

Sophie is still a baby and she is that big.
I know a lot of it is fluff but she looks like she could weigh 80 lbs already.
I've had Labs for the past 15 years but I grew up in a home with a German Shepard. As a breed they are wonderful dogs.

I'm resistant to narcotic pain meds as well. Lean heavily on the anti-inflamatorys.
Contemplating surgery is not easy but the results should be well worth it.

Best wishes for recovery for Trixie.
Stay optimistic. My previous dog Brittany had a back problem. She just couldn't get up one day. The vet told me that she had a congenital back problem where the discs had not properly fused during development. He said it would get progressively worse and she would have to be put down eventually.
I took her for a second opinion. The new vet said her breed
had about 20% of the same developmental problem. She also said there was no reason to expect it to get worse. She put her on an anti inflamatory for a week. Brit was on jumping restrictions for the rest of her live and never had another problem.
She missed playing ball but it was a small price to avoid a lifetime of pain.
I am assuming Trixie hasn't had a major accident.

I so rarely hear of someone else that has the medication problem. My dad was the same way...couldn't numb him for nothing either. The anti-inflamatories will be my friend. :) And yes, I am really looking forward to the end result.
