CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED

**Exclusive**

CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.

The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.

Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

We will need to be hypervigilant to protect the gains we have made and disallow the forces arrayed against freedom the ability to regulate the free speech and ability to communicate with one another so easily that the net has afforded us.

If the paper trail leads back to the Kerry campaign or unpaid advisers (Carville, Begala, etc.), I suspect CBS will find a low-level employee at the company to take the fall.

Or if it reachs back to the Kerry campaign, they will trot out and fire a low-level staffer or intern for being over-zealous.

I know I'm cynical but it seems this is how the Democrats and MSM behave when they're caught.

Rather is so anti-Bush that he has allowed his bias to blind him. It didn't take a genius to see discrepancies in those documents. Rather has been around long enough, he should have 'smelled a rat' before jumping on this hook, line and sinker.
