CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED

**Exclusive**

CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.

The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.

Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

Here is what I think went down. CBS didn't make the memo's, they were given them by a source within the Kerry campaign or the DNC. The source was highly placed and fed them enough BS about supporting witness that CBS took the bait without checking themselves.

If so, not only will this hurt CBS, it destroys the blind trust the media puts into Democratic talking points.

I agree! This is truly an amazing turn of events...for the new CONSERVATIVE media to have brought down an "institution" like CBS/60 Minutes. Kudos to all of you at FR.

As this hits major play time over the next few days, I fully expect Kerry's campaign to go nutso...and throw out more trash. However, the MSM should be more careful before airing it now....we hope.

He will join Kerry as the men who are being challenged to release all of the info.

Rather was so excited to spread lies about Bush, that he was careless. He knew the docs were bogus, but he did it anyway. He will go to his grave saying he did not...but the world shall know better.
