CBSNEWS LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AFTER SUSPICIOUS BUSH DOCS AIRED

**Exclusive**

CBS NEWS executives have launched an internal investigation into whether its premiere news program 60 MINUTES aired fabricated documents relating to Bush's National Guard service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"The reputation and integrity of the entire news division is at stake, if we are in error, it will be corrected," a top CBS source explained late Thursday.

The source, who asked not to be named, described CBSNEWS anchor and 60 MINUTES correspondent Dan Rather as being privately "shell-shocked" by the increasingly likelihood that the documents in question were fraudulent.

Rather, who anchored the segment presenting new information on the president's military service, will personally correct the record on-air, if need be, the source explained from New York.

Not really. That's a monospaced font, it's clearly a special character, and fits within the height of other characters making it different from what we see in the "memos" and further, it's the only case I see in all those pages of its use.

Further, those pages have all the earmarks of "quality" (sarcasm) *typewritten* material (uneven horizontal spacing) because pages notoriously slid or skewed against the platen as the paper rolled through. It does not demonstrate that all the elements contested in the memos were available in a single typewriter the alleged author of the memos had access to not explain the layout quality of what would really be a 'throw away' memo by a non-typist (according to his widow). As if I non-typist is doing to bother with a special character!

Among the variety of treads, it has NEVER been offered as fact, by knowledgeable commentators, that such monospace special characters were never available.

No source has located said character or special ability for the contemporaneously available IBM system presumed to be the only commercial, non-typesetter, machine capable of doing proportional type and the careful centering, etc. noted in the "memos."

This "evidence," having appeared on most of today's threads, is a non-sequitur with regard to the "memos" in question.

Notice how the Dems quickly claimed some high-end IBM typwriter was used-yet had previously said Bush 's NG unit was crap and had outmoded planes.

It doesn't help that Kinley's widow says he couldn't even type, much less operate a new-fangled high tech typewriter.

the same po box was used on real documents, however GOPCAPITALIST noticed the blacked out address of Bush in one memo was from 1968 not 1972 as in the memo..Bush moved several times in between...

The Dems are at the point that all of the people ain't getting fooled all of the time.

The Dems and MediaCrats still don't get it. The donkeys still think the media can set the agenda for them and the media think they can pick and chooose which stories to run (positive Kerry/negative Bush). They haven't caught onto this new little thing called the blogosphere.

I guess that's understandable since they all live in a 9/10/01 world.

I've been rethinking this thing and I've changed my mind a bit. I've been saying this afternoon and evening that CBS will refuse to out the source.

Now I'm thinking they have no real alternative. If they don't, imaginations will run rampant that their source is connected to Team Kerry. This would hand the election to Bush-Cheney.

But what if the source IS connected to Team Kerry. Then the pressure will be on CBS to refuse to turn over. But if they won't give him up, then rumors will multiply and Kerry will lose.

Yep, it looks bad for Kerry-Edwards. How ironic is this? It's nowhere near Purim, but we have a real-life example of the Purim story right here in River City.

Fox should send Brit with a hand held camera over to CBS banging on the door, Mike Wallace(or fatso Moore) style, asking questions about the forgeries. That'd be a hoot.
