ABC News Marc Ambinder has read 'Unfit for Command' in its entirety.
The book is clear, crisply written, occasionally compelling, and full of polarizing firepower.
It's rather short, padded with long exerprts from Kerry speeches, interviews with Swift Boat veterans, and other books.
If you are inclined to think that John Kerry is brash, self-possessed and occasionally immature, this book will confirm your suspicions.
If you are a partisan, you'll have your perceptions reconfirmed, whether you love Kerry and think he's a hero or hate him and think he's a fraud.
If you don't know Kerry at all, there's a good chance you'll be at least partially swayed to the view expressed by the book's title.
Page 45 through 49 focus on Cambodia, and that's about the only portion of the book that puzzles us and seems to puzzle the Kerry campaign.

BUMP
!!!!!!!
Being discussed on Fox News now.
Very interesting.....I'm sure it pained Marc Ambinder to write this.
Now we will see if the rest of the media networks follow suit and actually investigate since once one of them has actually read the book.
Wow!

Political unit is datelined Washington.
Had lunch with two colleagues from work. Have lunch with these guys quite often and I don't remember politics coming up before. One guy heard O'Neill being interviewed by Sean Hannity and he came away convinced that the swifties were telling the truth and that kerry is a bad guy. As they say, "one case is no case" but after so many times when we conservatives expected some bombshell to do in the opposition and after being disappointed so many times, maybe, just maybe, this time is different.
This could be big.
The review is still mostly positive.
Translation: ABCNews wants Hillary as President.
I don't think this time is different. The media will not investigate but will cover Kerry's rear-end. But the ad is powerful and should be run in the battleground states. That alone will have considerable impact.
"The Mekong Delta consists of the border between Cambodia and Vietnam, so on Christmas Eve in 1968, hr was in fact on patrol in the Mekong Delta between Cambodia and Vietnam. He was ambushed, they fired back, he was fired upon from both sides, from the Cambodian side and the Vietnam side during that day in 1968." "What I've seen in this book is a bunch of people lying about John Kerry did. John Kerry actually did command a boat in Vietnam, ran patrols along the border in the waters, on behalf of the United States in 1968 and 1969."
And, while we're looking around the blogosphere for more commentary on this, James Lileks offers his unique and humble analysis. The two sentence summary: "Kerry has made Vietnam central to his campaign. If hes making crap up, it matters."
Meehan has already read the book?
Amazing how many Kerry supporters try to sling crap while their candidate's past keep slinging more crap on them.
Kerry Kool-Aid drinkers are people swimming in a vat of sewage trying to sling it faster than it fills back up.
The best part is at the end - the latest Kerry excuse about Christmas in Cambodia:
Last night, Kerry advisor Michael Meehan responded to the claims in an interview with ABC's Stu Chamberlain.
"The Mekong Delta consists of the border between Cambodia and Vietnam, so on Christmas Eve in 1968, he was in fact on patrol ... in the Mekong Delta between Cambodia and Vietnam. He was ambushed, they fired back, he was fired upon from both sides, from the Cambodian side and the Vietnam side during that day in 1968."
Pinch me.
Self-possessed? Self-obsessed is perhaps what the writer meant.
Lest we forget, there's that alleged sinister Clinton undercurrent silently derailing the Kerry campaign.
Here we go. Lets define what a border is. Incredible. I will have to say, the left is so much better at disinfo.
As I have said before, either Kerry was in Cambodia and violated his security oath, or he is lying. You can't have it both ways.
