Club for Growth Launches National Ad Campaign at Democratic National Convention in Boston
Washington, D.C. The Club for Growth, one of the nations leading free-market political advocacy organizations, today unveiled a new $1 million television ad campaign at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. The ad shows a spinning weather vane to represent Kerrys many flip-flops on issues from the death penalty for terrorists to welfare reform to tax cuts.
John Kerry has never taken a position without checking the weather vane, said Club for Growth president Stephen Moore. He checks which way the wind is blowing and rides the breeze. Its time to act on principles that promote economic growth.
John Kerry has a little problem making up his mind, says the narrator. Okay, a big problem. In 1996 he opposed the death penalty for terrorists. Now he claims to support it. Sometimes hes for welfare reform, sometimes hes against it. For a 50-cent gas tax hike, then maybe not. Kerry voted for higher taxes 350 times, but now says hed cut taxes. John Kerry blowing in the wind.
The television ad, paid for and produced by the Club for Growth PAC, will be run by the Club for Growth PAC starting July 26 in Boston, and then an aggressive buy will roll out in several Midwestern states. The ad was produced by Warfield Associates.
The Club for Growth PAC has secured national airtime on cables Fox News Channel to run the Weather Vane ad describing John Kerrys flip-flopping Senate record. It will run today on Your World with Neil Cavuto (4-5pm EST) as well as The OReilly Factor (8-9pm EST). It will also air during those two shows next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Also, look for the Clubs next TV ad to debut on the blog later today or tomorrow. We will be releasing it here first! Let us know what you think about it.
This is why I've been confident of Bush's win all along. Some people criticized Rove for pouring all the ad money into the fall.
The dems went unanswered for so long, that it built up a level of hysteria, and kept piling on.
Now, after they've been heard for months and months, those who are against Kerry are starting to answer back, and all the dems can do is repeat answers we've already heard a thousand times.
The American people have been waiting and waiting for Kerry to define himself. Whatever the Moores and company do, people now have an impression of Kerry. They already had an idea of Bush, based on four years of his presidency.
They heard the anti-Bush stuff--torrents of it--for years.
Now, the response, in concentrated form--in 3 months. The 3 months right before the election. All of this is NEWS to those people, while they've heard it all before from the anti-Bush crowd.
DNC threatening to sue any station that airs Club for Growth ads.
Saw it on O'Reilly...pretty good!
I think they are wasting their money showing it on Fox. CNN would be a better target.
Bwahahahah. I saw that on a Lansing TV station.
Saw it on Fox News just before the O'Rielly Swiftboat article .
Blowin in the Wind
How many lies can a candidate tell
Before well believe that its true?
Yes, 'n' how many flip-flops can the candidate make
Before we wont know what hell do?
Yes, 'n' how many ribbons and medals can he claim
Before we know how many away he threw?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years in the Senate must a man serve
Before we can ask what he did there?
Yes, 'n' how many votes against our military must he cast
Before we know that about strong defense he couldnt care?
Yes, 'n' how many terrorist deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can liberal socialists exist
Before theyre all flushed out to sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years will it take to defeat them
Before Americans are allowed to stay free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man flip & flop,
Pretending he is all you want him to be?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

A very worthy FR PRose Ping on #8, yall!
THAT WAS A WONDERFUL AD.
Just saw it.
I wish they'd had it white washed with his polished image and let rain wash the whitewash away to expose a mean spirited power mongering look.
bttt
This has nothing to do with Rove. In fact, the CfG opposes many of Rove's hand-picked candidates.
