Syria - Archeological Findings

The Finnish archeological team working in Bashir Mount in the desert area of Palmyra ( Tadmor ) has unearthed 46 archeological sites that date back to 80,000 years B.C.
Member of the team Prof. Margo Alstawt Watsing of Helsinki University said her group used sophisticated equipment to survey the mountain’s archeological traces that extend along the Euphrates River on the ancient famous Silk Road, some 180 KM east of Palmyra.
She added that clay, copper, bone and granite pieces were unearthed at the scene, an indication that man had very long ago settled there.
The archeologist said the aim of her expedition is to determine the connection between Mount Bashir and the world’s earliest civilizations of Ebla ( Tel Merdikh ) and Mari ( Tel Hariri ) as well as understanding stages of development of those peoples.
Tel Merdikh is 25 km south-east of Idleb. It is the site of important and recent archaeological discoveries. Excavations there had revealed a very old Syrian civilization, that of Ebla, which flourished in the 3rd and 2nd millenniums B.C. In the palace of this great kingdom, a library containing more than 17,000 clay tablets was uncovered. These tablets are the earliest written documents in Syria.
At Mari Site, numerous palaces, temples and murals reflecting advanced cultural and commercial activity were found. Also the kingdom of Ugarit (Ras Shamra) offered mankind its first alphabet.

Clay tablets and copper? The 80,000 year old stuff doesn't add up to me.
Didn't Jean Auel write about this in "The Clan of the Cave Bear" and successive stories in the same series?

A couple notes which hopefully will help answer some questions that have been raised: Copper in its natural form was used before copper was used in smelted form during the Bronze Age. Also, the Ebla tablets discussed in the last two paragraphs of the article are old news that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the new finds discussed earlier in the main body of article, other than apparently that the archaeological team was doing digging related to Ebla research when they happened to stumble onto the other finds which are the subject of the article. The Ebla tablets are from a much later period than the finds which are the subject of the article. And yes, they are written in cuneiform--the Ebla scribes imported Sumerian cuneiform and used it to write in Sumerian as well as Eblaite, a Semitic language.

According to some super-naturalists.
Second, according to the latest theory, based on DNA and meteorite evidence, there was a major catastropy 74000 years ago which deminished the amount of DNA diversity, and by inference, the amount of humans lurking around in antiquity. It is possible the finds are 80K years old...but I doubt it as the article mainly cites extraneous material, not the basis of the alleged age.
