Lots of people in the High Desert grow Lilacs. The 3 seasons suit them. Guess all my old neighbors are going to have to yank them.
You start by siezing control of the body of water where the fish lives. Successful elimination of the fish is a secondary concern.
I don't know why, but this city is wall to wall Eucalyptus trees. Back in the desert, I had a severe problem with Oleanders. I will never allow those on any property we live on. My son has to stay indoors because of his allergies. I don't even know what Scotch Broom is, but I'll bet someone's got one around here. Still, it's not like some psycho planted kudzu deliberately, ya know?
After years of posting and explaining to FReepers these creeping issues of government growth through EnvironMentalism, I understand your impatience and sense of fatigue whenever someone we expect to have maintained their awareness seems to make you feel like you have just been "peeing into the wind," but don't lash out now.
This is the opportunity we have all been waiting for to "bring it all home" and finally "getting across" your points without getting cross. This "cause" has been progressing so inexorably under the typical FReepers radar, to say nothing of the public's radar, that it can appear to be "tin foil" when hit over the head with it.
It is expecially hard for even highly knowledgeable people to respond to a "threat" when their focus has been on living life and surviving, while busybodies and activists who seem to have endless amounts of time and money have been lobbying endless "public processes," non-stop for decades to advance these "causes!"
At this moment in time, in CA, they are about to win big with their dream cause based on the small success they had with "The Tahoe Conservancy" with it's large staff of self-annointed state employees, recieving a state paycheck and huge benefits. My proof of this is getting to know these employees, seeing some of their paychecks and seeing them join the activists at public meetings to engineer outcomes!
Please be patient with EggsAckley and all other FReepers and take the time to answer questions and make explanations with all the factual back-up you can provide at least one more tedious time with a smile in your tone. We need their help right now, more than ever!!!

They can't eliminate the fish, because PETA will sue them. So they just seize the lakes and waterways that are on private property. Sweet...

That kind of behaviour will have to be stopped. The government can't keep bodies of water free of non-native species if people are allowed to have contact with the water. Boats, boots and fishing tackle could be contaminated with non-native species from another body of water.
If you can prohibit people from hunting and fishing to gather food, then you only have to control the food supply to the retail stores. Voila! Population control. Robert Mugabe would be so proud of his fellow ideological travelers.
The book looks pretty interesting. I have bamboo plants on this property that my parents were trying to eradicate when I was in kindergarten. They will not go away. We do need to take personal responsibility about the things we plant, and I understand that. However, I just don't see a huge crisis that warrants this legislation.
If this should pass, how far can they go?

Exactly. The more posts I read, the more tinfoil scenarios form in my mind. If anyone grows food gardens, what is in your garden that is specifically native in the land of fruits and nuts? Will the state ban the sale of certain seeds and seedlings? If water rationing should take effect, how would you sustain these crops? BAH!
They are trying to slide this right under our noses. Some folks will think I'm being excessively paranoid, but I recognize some of the critters who have voted yes on these bills. They are nasty! So, what can we do about it?
Not to worry. A Republican like Schwarzenegger will stop this nonsenses in its tracks.
My principal reasons for being against the legislation are that it won't work, the bureaucrats will make things worse to get bigger budgets, it will be hugely expensive and unjust. The problem is just too complex for bureaucratic systems to manage. It often requires speed and risk taking to which they are not suited. I can see nothing but evil coming from this.
While we're worried about our troops, and the commies trying to undermine us, lookie what these lovely people are cooking up for Kalifornistan.

I'm not radically opposed to everything concerning the environment because I am not a fool. Many good things have been discovered to help mankind use the forces of nature to improve our human processes over the past four decades. Mostly by businesses and industries that have found that nature can be an ally, instead of some tool of the devilish EnvironMentalists to taunt and torment them with!
I object with all that's in me when our GOVERNMENT is used in an overkilling kind of brutish attempt to suffocate economic processes, to weaken American Industry and Commerce to create some imagined "equality" among nations!!!
I also object just as strenuously when I discover one element in business & industry using GovernMental EnvironMental Activism to drive their competitors out of business or even to get a competitive edge, or to create some imagined "equity" among enterprises!!!
The "Public Trust Doctrine," derived from ancient Rome, that says "No one can own the air and no one can own the water" is being expanded by these lawmakers to include... NO ONE CAN OWN THE LAND, EITHER!!! (ownership used to imply control, remember?)
So your astute comment pulls the covers on their Socialistic Agenda!!! (and it ain't "tinfoil" neither!)
