New evidence: Saddam's WMD in Lebanon: Weapons transferred to Syria before war
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Friday, May 21, 2004

Over the last few months, the U.S. intelligence community has received new evidence a sizable amount of Iraqi WMD systems, components and platforms were transferred to Syria in the weeks leading up to the U.S.-led war in Iraq, reports Geostrategy-Direct, the global intelligence news service.

But chances are the Bush administration won't be releasing this information for a while.

The convoys were spotted by U.S. satellites in early 2003, but the contents of the WMD convoys from Iraq to Syria were not confirmed.

Confirmation later came from Iraqi scientists and technicians questioned by a U.S. team that was searching for Saddam's conventional weapons. But all they knew was the convoys were heading west to Syria.

But over the last few months, U.S. intelligence managed to track the Iraqi WMD convoy to Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.

Through the use of satellites, electronic monitoring and human intelligence, the intelligence community has determined that much, if not all, of Iraq's biological and chemical weapons assets are being protected by Syria, with Iranian help, in the Bekaa Valley.

The Syrians received word from Saddam Hussein in late 2002 that the Iraqi WMD would be arriving and Syrian army engineering units began digging huge trenches in the Bekaa Valley.

Saddam paid more than $30 million in cash for Syria to build the pits, acquire the Iraqi WMD and conceal them.

At first, U.S. intelligence thought Iraqi WMD was stored in northern Syria. But in February 2003 a Syrian defector told U.S. intelligence the WMD was buried in or around three Syrian Air Force installations.

But intelligence sources said the Syrians kept dual-use nuclear components for themselves while transferring the more incriminating material to Lebanon.

I have to wonder if anything will come of it. After all, after Syrians blew themselves up transporting bio weapons in N. Korea, all the State Department convinced the President to do was hit Syria with meaningless sanctions, such as, forbidding Syrian passenger jets to land in the USofA, when Syria doesn't have passenger jets landing in the USofA.

I remember this being reported a year ago. What is the difference in the report this time?

One thing at a time, IMO.

We're fighting in Iraq with Clinton's much reduced armed forces, and fighting at home with fifth columnists in the media, the schools and the elite of the Democrat party.

One thing I trust Bush about implicitly is that he will act after he carefully moves our ducks into a row. He's a poker player, and some times you have to wait through a whole evening of bad cards and bluffing before you can wipe everyone out with a good hand.

Like they do everything else contrary to their 'version' of the news.

Put more nudie pictures of prisoners on TV.

Same way they handled this report over a year ago...they ignored it.

If it's mentioned, they'll say it proves the Dems were right to question the attack on Iraq as it just caused the WMD to be scattered to the winds and closer to control by terrorists.

Personally I think Sadaam was complicit in 9/11, and no amount of claim there is no "proof" will change my gut on that one.

Oh surely not. Ignore something as big as this? I mean it must be really important, since they spent so much time talking about our not (absolutely positively) finding them yet...

So, no doubt we'll see this all over the news tomorrow:

"Oops, we were too quick to say Bush mislead us about the WMDs... Looks like he was right and we were wrong."

/sarcasm

Me too. Seems like sometimes the closest one can come to being lighthearted - rather than totally bummed - about these things, is to be sarcastic.

Sad, huh.

You're absolutely right about fighting the war in Iraq with the military and the propaganda war at home in US.

We're doing pretty well militarily ... but not so well with the propaganda war at home. Ticks me off.

This is just a rehash of old info that came out, as you state in your response, several months ago. Nothing new here ...

So if we go to Bekaa and find the weapons the RATS will say, "see there were no weapons in Iraq and we should have attacked Lebanon."

This election cycle needs to conclude now. Once Bush is reelected he can then focus on Syria.

We are in for an interesting four years.

I sure hope you're right. However, I'm too old and have been around too long to fully trust any politician. Some are more trustworthy than others (for instance, I had trust in Ronald Reagan to a significant degree, but had absolutely none in Bill Clinton or LBJ; I trust GWM more than I trusted his Father; I had no trust in Carter, and next to none in Nixon; but I did trust Ford; I was iffy with Kennedy, but I did trust Eisenhower quite a bit, whom, to me, was not a politician, and thus was deserving of some trust). I wasn't old enough to remember Truman.

"As we were discussing earlier..."

Indeed, JH!!
But then we acknowledge that the President Bush we know - contrary to the libral media and the Teddys and Nancys and Kerrys of Congress - is not now and never has been a prevaricator.

The steady feed of intelligence pooh-poohed by the Power Seekers is right on, and verfied by the Israeli bloodhounds as well.

It is a somewhat amusing thing that they increase the volume and intensity of their screeching cries, setting themselves up nicely for - - The Big Fall !!!
lol

Yes - stay tuned to your tellys in October, probably, for the (pardon my using French) coup de grace..:))

The Far Side amusingly plays into 'misunderestimation,' besmirching him as a dolt and buffoon....
as always, "he who laughs last, laughs best;" as we will with him...
