[history]
When San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples this month, many in the gay rights movement nationwide cheered.
But in Massachusetts, the sudden act of civil disobedience is setting off deep concern among some leading gay advocates, who worry the move could undercut the push for same-sex marriage here.

Can anyone explain the difference for me between gay marriage and civil unions? I'm not into nuance as Kerry and Edwards are.

Read this article 'woe to poor gay victims of societal oppression'.
In employing this often used tact the gays are, after pushing the envelope a little bit further, attempting to innoculate themselves against society's reaction.
They can go to that well only so many times.

Can anyone explain the difference for me between gay marriage and civil unions? From what I understand, they'll have all the legal protections with the cu's but they want the title of married.

Yep, give them nothing.

Thanks. MY position = What God has blessed, let no man put asunder.

Civil union sounds so much more enlightened and dare I say "less religious?" than homosexual or same sex marriage, a true abomination.
Instead of a "ahppy" marriage, shall we wish one another a "gay" marriage?
I hate the hijacking of the word "gay" to describe homosexuals, don't you?
