My condolences!

By the way, 6 million is just chicken feed to Oprah Winfrey, from what I just read...

..she owns a 50 million dollar mansion!!!!!

I can't even wrap my brain around a mansion costing 50 million!

One block from Joyce Wishart's art gallery?! Good catch!

I think another "isolated incident" will soon be a closed case.

I've been away from tv all day but caught a radio news update earlier this evening .... CBS (I know, but it's the only local talk radio station and has good traffic reports). They had mentioned the "negotiations" that led to finding Carlie's body .... but they specifically said there had been "no plea bargain." I was quite relieved since I had heard the earlier reports that seem to imply there might have been.

I've seen her island home off of Antigua. I don't fault her for buying it. But I do blame her for inflicting "Dr. Phil" on to our nation.

I really think he should be executed in public.

He will never be "fixed", he's beyond repair, he must be done away with.

But a public execution might serve two purposes, it would let any other pervs out there know we are not sh*tting around anymore, it might prevent another story like this.

And maybe, just maybe, it might "fix" us up a bit.

I am unspeakably angry about it. None of the lawyers would ever sue anybody involved, they're way too busy going after doctors, who sometimes make honest mistakes.

I wonder what liberal trial lawyer will represent this waste of air?

It won't be Johnny Cockroa...er Cochran. And we won't see white people leaping to this foul cretin's defense just because he's white.

My beautiful wife did a search for "sexual predators" on the state website. We have nine within 3 miles from our home. And within a 1000 yards of most schools. The logic of the liberal elite escapes me. How can allowing these scum to live close to children helps them in their rehab really pisses me off. And I'm equally if not more angry than you. My hometown died this week.

Whether the execution itself is in public or not is not as important an issue as whether it happens quickly, IMO.

In these cases where the trial itself is delayed until the 12th of never and then appeals drag out for another 15-20 years, the deterrent effect is so diluted as to be non-existent. Those who hear about the execution have only dim memories of the crime, if any at all.

If justice were swift, I think the death penalty would have much more of a deterrent effect. And it would be much better for grieving families, too.

I read your essay, believe me friend, don't feel alone. It's a damn good thing I was here home in Seattle today, I mighta done something really stupid. Hell, I fish in the Green River alot, that POS Ridgeway got life after he killed 48 women. They made the excuse "Well, it's for the victims families, he might know about another murder"

I don't buy that one at all. Then, to avoid the death penalty, all a guy would have to do is confess to a bunch of non-existent murders.

And I'll get some flames for this, but all ya gotta do is LOOK at the guy to know something about him is twisted.

We need some common sense. Some 18 year old kid is not, IMO, a criminal if he has a 15 yr old girlfriend.

But when you hear about a 35 yr old guy who has a fascination with 15 yr old girls, that's another story.

And I'll get some flames here, but all you have to do is LOOK at the guy to know he is somehow twisted.

I don't know why you are adopting your unwarranted tone, but let me state it plainly: Nobody thinks King David belongs in Hell.

Get it?

He was trying to make a point to yet another poster and you leapt to the wrong conclusion.

You will get no flames from me. The liberals will proclaim his sorrowful life. I shall celebrate his death. The difference between being "compassionate" and logical must be drawn. And I'm tired of it being drawn in the blood of our future.

Predators should be killed as soon as they are identified.

It is of no importance whether the death penalty deters future offenders. What is important is that persons whose lives are organized around violating others be eliminated from contact with normal people.

Prison, which could reform or correct offenders with a conscience, is of no value for the management of predators (except for the brief time they are incarcerated, and even then, they are causing harm to other nonpredatory inmates and correctional staff).

If people are opposed to killing them, they could be isolated in a place where they could not have contact with normal people.

But what we are doing now clearly does not work.

So, if he got life, and ended up getting killed by another inmate, that's not good enough. He needs to be hung in public. The people (the good people, who are fed up with the fear and loathing and perversion) need to demand it.

I don't think the good people are going to demand any such thing. The good people, while they may undoubtedly want a permanent end to this individual, don't wish to see it. It's the lowlife thug and his lowlife thug bros who'd pop popcorn and crack a beer to watch him (or anyone else) die on pay per view, and high five each other all the way through it. I understand your sentiment, but trust me, as sick as you may think this culture is, you don't want to live in one where executions are entertainment.

missyme, I can certainly appreciate both of the sentiments that you have expressed on this thread......one, that adults should look out for innocent children, and two, that children need to be taught self defense measures if approached by a stranger. However, I am also aware of a conflict between the two sentiments. I know that my husband and many of his friends have become very reluctant to approach a strange child for any reason, simply because of all the hysteria surrounding the dreaded "male stranger." Unfortunately, their reluctance is compounded by the provocative styles that so many young girls wear these days. I've heard them say more than once that they try to avoid even looking at these girls, much less approaching them, lest they be labeled a PERVERT. While I think most men are still willing to intervene in a situation where a child is clearly in danger, I think a lot of dangerous situations are overlooked by men who are reluctant to put themselves at risk. IMO, it's a very sad situation for everyone.

What group of individuals has done more to destroy America than lawyers?

And look no further than DC, where lawyers make careers in politics, and these SOBs are literally running this country. They are the public servant elite.

I understand your sentiments, and respectfully disagree.

I've read accounts of public executions. Most do start off as you describe.

But they end alot different. Makes people think. Makes people protect their loved ones. Makes them try to find some common ground to work together, rather than celebrate some fictional, overblown diversities.

And in a strange way, reinforces the blessings and sanctity of an honest life.

You make a good point but with all the sexual predators out there it's a no win situation we just have to do what's best to protect kids. Especially when there alone or in an area where there is no adults around.

And parents have to be responsible to not let there kids especially girls dress like street walkers, they don't need that kind of attention in 2004.
