Actually, I was listening to a talk show this morning and a reporter affiliated with the show was at the exit where the police brought the guy. They had hog-tied him (yes, still naked) and dropped him, "unit" first, onto the concrete floor.
Now, there might be a "difference" between full nudity vs. partial nudity, but it is still nudity. And while I don't have any problem or hang ups about nudity, it is totally bogus to give it a complete pass.
It was wrong for CBS to allow this to go out over the airways. They knew it before time and they let it go without a warning to parents that there may be some parts not appropriate for children.
Interestingly, if they HAD to have given that warning, it would have NECESSSARILY caused a few things to happen. 1) People would have tuned out just in case, 2) the people at CBS might (I stress MIGHT) have thought, "You know, why do we have to give a warning to a show that is broadcast to families?" (which, on second thought and as pointed out, was the precise reason CBS allowed this: to further devalue family values), or 3) it would have given them an "out", even though it would just have been a pathetic excuse.
Come to think of it, that's what CBS is: a pathetic excuse.
bttt ...
This is more important than talking about intentionally leaving the borders open during a war on terror. Treason doesn't jiggle, see?
I didn't "freak" because you're a liberal. There were three liberals in my home for the game last night -- a liberal doctor, a liberal attorney, and a life-long liberal journalist. None of them were happy with the way hollywood liberals pushed filth on innocent viewers and their children. And yeah, they all knew it wasn't hollywood conservatives putting on that show. Another thing, years ago I was a liberal. And at one point an elected precinct person - for the democrats. Lots of us here are former democrats.
You appear bound by mindless stereotypes of groups you know little about. It's sad.
I said I was a Liberal and you freaked - I don't think you could read past the point that I said I was a Liberal.
Probably Jackson and Timberlake will admit they didn't want to do it...that it was in their contract and HAD to.
This is why I hate TV. Some guy behind a desk who thinks that the US is full of uneducated slobs who love to see this kind of Britney Spears half naked teen angst put to terrible music.
It is either a terrible insulting misjudgement on the minds of Americans, or it is a sad truth about what the people who watch tv really like. I would hate to know either way.
Are you freaking dense? Read this very slowly and carefully. My children, ages 7 and 10, were exposed to nudity and they saw a man RIP part of a woman's clothing off. I am offended because my children were exposed to behavior that they shouldn't have been exposed to. There were NO parental warnings issued before them half-time show and CBS chose NOT to keep the incident off the air.
Just because this isn't a big deal to YOU doesn't mean it shouldn't be a big deal to anyone else!
I think we'll stay in the Church we belong to - thanks anyway. This same youth group just came back home last week from participating in the March for Life in DC; they go to the Abortion Clinic early on Saturday mornings twice a month to protest - for the Pro-Life movement, they do many, MANY service projects, have regular Bible Studies, but their love for Jesus is above all the most important thing in their lives.
I think it's ok for them to watch an occasional football game, from time to time. Thanks anyway - I think we'll stick with this Church for quite some time.
I know that. I was trying to use subtlety to the person I was posting to. I hoped that maybe she could come up with the realization (on her own), that this trash is headed that way, *and beyond*.
Thinking about the loved ones that were lost 1 year ago in the Shuttle accident and some other thoughts, those lyrics really hit home (lump in throat, eyes welling more than a bit). Reason?
During the song, I started thinking about the Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, who passed in that tragic accident. Many here know that Ilan was one of the F-16 pilots that was involved in the bombing of the Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981. The loss of his life, combined with the men and women currently serving our country, battling the same evils, facing danger everyday...I was touched by Mr. Groban's lyrics.
Perhaps I was also ashamed of the behavior of too many of my fellow Americans who don't seek to raise anyone up, save themselves. It is especially painful when I think of the people who don't support our troops, the defense of this country, or even feign some grudging support for our President. I think that during that song, there was a ton of emotion for me.
In addition, the lyrics are very close to a hymn/song that we sing at my church very frequently. I don't know if Mr. Groban is a strictly a secular signer, but the lyrics of that song should be quite meaningful to Christians.
I suppose that that pre-game activites (minus Aerosmith and Willie "Stoner" Nelson...they both sucked), Mr. Groban's song, and the National Anthem contrasted with the halftime makes the halftime show and its ending even more disappointing.
BTW, if you don't believe that statement, then read Lord_Baltar posts on this thread. Regards
