Did anyone else see if Justin Timberlake pulled off Janet Jackson's top?

i have the superbowl on tape... tape it for the commercials... and i reviewed the halftime show... massive undertaking in production and coordination... lots of people and fireworks...

the bare breasting of ms jackson was planned with the ease of disrobing and the adornment of the nipple... all in line to spark controversy and get people talking... was it offensive? no. i bet the troops watching oversees enjoyed it and will be thinking about what they are fighting for back home... not a bunch of prudish individuals with narrow moral judgements, but good ole american gumption and freedoms...

as for the poncho worn by kid rock that looked like a flag... that flag stands for freedom of expression, a symbol to be displayed and honored... any way one feels the need to... some may argue that flag pins then can be a desecration... i think veterans who fight and die for a flag are misguided... the flag represents a country that is great because of the freedoms inherent in that country's make-up...

when circumstances in that country reach the point of people dictating respect for cloth, it makes me more apt to burning the symbol for it.

lighten up people, there are more important things to be disgusted with than a halftime showing of a naked breast, one that was very attractive... or a poncho worn by a rock star... he is a rock star right?

how many complaining wear flag pins, flag hats, flag bandanas... flag shirts... clothing with flags on it that are thrown in the washer...

i love america and respect the flag, i say the pledge of allegiance, but not to the flag... i have always had a problem with that... i pledge allegiance to america, not to its symbol...

soldiers have fought and died for america, not its flag...

Beyonce sang the anthem just perfect.

Bullcrap. She sucked, too. Just once, I'd like to see someone come out and actually sing our national anthem normally, and actually hit the right notes, and leave out all those extra notes that don't belong. Just once, is all I ask.

Since you seem to be the expert on what parents should be concerned about, and are flabbergasted that parents would be concerned about exposing their children (of all ages) to a man ripping of the clothing of a woman and exposing her breast. Perhaps, you could lay down the rules for the rest of us, of what would cross the line so that it would not be preposterous to voice concern. Would it be outrageous for parents to voice concern if a man ripped off the top of a woman and exposed BOTH breasts in front of children of all ages? Or would it be preposterous to voice concern over that as well? Please set the guidelines for us, so I know when to voice concern and can live up to your standards.

Hey, was it just me, or did you notice that CBS kept showing NE cheerleaders but not the Panthers'? What's up with that?

I may be mistaken, but since last night's Super Bowl was a "home" game for the Patriots, only their cheerleaders were present. Too bad, though! :)

Why does the left side of her bodice rip off in the first place? Designers don't do that unless they are SUPPOSED to rip off.

Exactly. This is why I say..." BRING OUT THE OAR!!"

Timberlake looks like "heroin chic"...

I don't know which would offend me more --- the mere presence of cheap pop stars whose time is over or an ageing pop star desperate to expose herself to the world which may not have tuned in to see that.

Just my opinion here, but why watch an MTV production at all? Or, if you didn't realize MTV was the producer, how about changing the channel or going to the kitchen for snacks during the half time performance, which is always designed to get attention, be it via volume, props, techno stuff or a breast shot. I couldn't get to the remote fast enough when Janet came out. The pre-game show with Toby Keith was pretty good, I will say.

"No, she sang a very respectful national anthem."

Yes, although with many vacal embelishments some purists would probably complain about.

Plus, instead of a recorded music track, a live orchestra accompanied her, and the arrangement was one of my top 3 faves. Did they announce who did the arrangement? David Foster, my all-time favorite arranger, did Faith Hill's and Whitney Houston's arrangements of the anthem. This sounds a lot like his work.

It seemed to me like Willie Nelson was a little out of it. Or maybe he is just getting old.

Oh please. Two old friends kissing at an awards show and having their lips touch is not anything like what happened last night. You do have a dirty mind.

Look Groovy; you can be as concerned as you like, but let's face facts.

Regardless of the rhetoric around here, there's no way to be certain whether this was or wasn't an accident. Of course, there are those around here who declared it not an accident, mere moments after it happened.

None of us can say, with absolute certainty, whether it was, or wasn't.

Does it REALLY matter? Not particularly.

However, this thread illustrates a few things, very clearly. Many of the folks getting their knickers in a knot over this, seem to be the same types who would insist on Fig Leaves on ancient statues, or black lines being put on paintings.

Of course, we'll hear that much mocked phrase "It's for the children", however, sadly, it was many of the same folks here who have mocked that phrase when it was used elsewhere.

There is nothing dirty, filthy, disgusting over the sight of a female breast. Period.

My guess, in all honesty, the kids probably got a quick giggle out of it, but would have long since forgotten it, had it not been for the obvious over reactions displayed here.

I thought so too. His voice wasn't "on". I can't believe they did "Weed with Willy". What about Sammy Haggar? He couldn't remember the words to "I Love This Bar"! He looked like he was so excited to be there that he was going to explode.

You evidently have no grasp whatsoever of events occurring in the world. I suggest a few months of living in the totally Muslim world will open your foolish and unknowing eyes. Your smug remarks are playing with a fire you know nothing about! I have spent months in the Middle East and three years working with the Kuwaiti and Omani air force and the royal families of both Kuwait and Oman. I have also spent significant time working with security forces in Israel. I know exactly how these folks think, and it is not the glib way you boast about a breast showing! There are other cultures in this world then the one you espouse. And.....the radicals of Muslim culture want to kill us all! So....please don't cry or complain when your "Daniel Pearl" moment arrives! Fool!
