Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he would consider making Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) his running mate.
I respect Ted, he told host Bill OReilly on Fox News The OReilly Factor." "He was a very strong competitor. He really competed hard and tough."
Hes certainly a capable guy, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee added. "Its something we can think about. Trump defeated Cruz in Tuesdays Indiana GOP presidential primary, making him the presumptive nominee.
Cruz suspended his Oval Office bid shortly afterward, saying that his results in the Hoosier State foreclose his path to the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump on Wednesday said that he does not resent Cruz for their often bitter contest against each another.
Its an easy thing, he said of the nominating process. "He said some things and he made some things up and he took some things that were said out of context.
Reports emerged earlier on Wednesday that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson would serve on a selection committee for finding Trumps running mate.
Carson, another former GOP presidential candidate, will help Trump make his pick before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
Trump on Wednesday said that Carsons involvement stems from his reluctance in becoming the vice presidential nominee himself.
I dont think Bens looking at that, he said. "Hes a friend of mine. Hes been so helpful. Hes a terrific guy.
Trump additionally reiterated that he is also eyeing Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio), who suspended his White House run earlier Wednesday.
I would certainly consider him, he said. "During the debates Id always find myself talking to John. Ive had a good relationship with him, so well see how that turns out.
I dont want to talk too much about it as I am considering a couple of people. We do have a lot of candidates who would be very, very good."
I don’t think this is a good idea. I don’t think Cruz can attract that many crossover voters. I think Trump needs to get a governor from one of the swing states.
Whatever. He’s still not loyal. He would be undermining constantly. Showed his true (covetous) colors.
Cannot accept him as VP..maybe some other post like Supreme Court.
I WOULD have held my nose and voted for him if he had won, though.
We MUST get a republican back in the executive position.
We MUST.
Everyone must put aside their anger and get out and VOTE.
Make this the biggest Republican voter turn out in history.
We must keep the criminal Clintons out- or else it’s a third term for Obama.
.
I disagree. With Crooz as Veep, it gives far more reason for the Crazies to off the man in charge. I wouldn’t want him as Veep for that reason.
I saw the interview and don’t recall an explicit mention of Cruz for VP.
