Beach day?

Maybe. The first lady and I were just discussing that possibility after Mass. We haven't been in at least a month.

Btw, good morning!

Good morning, Jemian.

Thanks for the info on LD. I'm thinking that as the season progresses, LD will be doing that halftime routine in her sleep! She'll get very proficient.

As to finances, it's been our sad experience, that expenses are usually higher than expected.

Now, for example, when we sit down in the late spring to work on this particular part of the budget, we always add more.

You see, often at that time, the university still hasn't figured out its tuition schedule for the following year.

Sometimes, it's a few more weeks...early summer... when it does, and typically, it's a percentage point or 2 higher than first thought.

And books!! Oh brother...

Sounds like full morning, Guenevere!

Mike - A beach day sounds very nice! I'll have to settle for a baseball day.:-)

Great that you can provide ohio with some info.

When my son's friend returned last week from basic at Ft. Lost in the Woods, he & my husband reminisced about basic. Sounded like things hadn't changed THAT much in 30 years.

But my husband had basic at Ft. Lewis, which he makes out to be idyllic.

Got to get going here.

Ha, ha....:-)

It's practically a different team than the one that came up from spring training.

These young kids have spirit and energy. Kind fun!

One more leetle thing:

Last Sunday in Louisville, we wento out to eat with s-i-l to a neighborhood cafe..

This southern girl had grits.....fried catfish....well-cooked green beans with bacon, and the most delicious iced tea.

It was heaven!

The other....northern.... people at the table...who knows WHAT they had! LOL!

Raven - Thinking about you this morning. You are taking steps back to a "regular" life. There IS an end to the journey!

Good morning all!

Raven... I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Have faith. My wife and I went through the same thing six years ago. We lost everything, but we were able to rebuild, and the town came through like you wouldn't believe. (I felt like George Bailey in, It's A Wonderful Life.) Prayers to you and your wife!

We head our Japanese student over to the University this morning. She will take a bus, along with the other 34 students, to Chicago. They will sight see for a few days, and then fly back to Japan. It's like sending a daughter off to college.

Saw an NEA rep. on C-Span yesterday morning. It was an embarrassment to those of us who teach. He acted like we that opposed their non-committal attitude towards 9/11 were the oddballs in this Country, and thought that it was all about pushing an agennda of school vouchers.

Blessings to you all on the Lord's Day!

I want you to know that teachers like you are the ones who set the standard...not those kooks we see on TV who think the youth of America should be brainwashed by their socialist beliefs.

The Daily Update – August 25, 2002

REMEMBER THE TRADE CENTER!!

AMERICA’S WAR ON TERROR – Day 349

The news as reported in The Washington Times:

[Note – All links go to The Washington Times’ website.]

[Note also– Don't blame Chair for mistakes, all Bitwhacker's fault, blah, blah, blah...]

1. Iraq's ambassador to the U.N. defended financial aid to Palestinian suicide bombers as 'Arab solidarity'.

[He did NOT explain why killing innocent civilians, including infants, is legit. Can you say, 'Regime Change'?]

2. U.S. Attorney McNulty steps into the spotlight.

[McNulty is the prosecutor in Alexandria, VA, who is going after the terrorists. Wish we had 100 of him.]

U.S. Attorney McNulty steps into the spotlight

3. Theives steal 3 rare copies of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', smuggling them out of a museum in London in broad daylight.

[Each is valued between $30,000 and $45,000, and police don't expect to ever recover them.]

Thieves steal 'Carol' in Dickens of a crime

4. Losses expected by GOP in states.

[Twenty-three of the 36 governorships up for grabs this time 'round are held by Republicans. I think California is a write-off, though.]

Losses expected by GOP in states

We shall not rest until we have cut a swath 60-miles wide through the entire left - taking all that is before us with us as we go. We shall leave nothing to the enemy that may be of value to him. We shall show him that he may count on nothing and will be able to keep nothing, not his spirit, not his soul, not that upon which he shall feed. We shall not cease until the moment we have rent through their entire land and have arrived at the sea, with our glorious victory upon us.

Ahhhh, Louisville, I went to the University of Louisville and there was a little neighborhool rest., Mastersons, man, they had some good food.

Let me tell you about Washington, D.C., I went to the National Drug Enforcement school there in the 60's, there was a little rest. close to the school, I got the owner to let me get some grits from MS so he could have me some grits, he agreeded, he served what was left, the 'southerners' started flocking to the place, he went from a few customers in the morning to it was packed every morning. He use to tell me 'thank you, thank you, thank you' every time I walk in the place.

The Saudies payed Bin Lawden 200 MILLION to stay off them, 200 mil, sheesh. We HAVE to kiss up to them, its called oil BUT only because little tommy d. is holding Americas hostage by not allowing a vote on Alaska oil, OUR grounds, OUR oil. little tommy d. is doing great harm to this nation
I think OUR President W should declare oil a national emergency and open Alaska by executive order for drilling. It is not right for little tommy d. to put Alaska out or reach. little tommy d IS the enemy of the United States. (Now, down blood pressure, down.)

Its off to clean house, make bed, shower and start to think about getting ready for church. Prayers for Raven, such a bad time for them, for the families in OR, how dredful it myust be to know your child has been murdered, 23 years old, how sad. Prayers for all to stay safe, free from illness and, for those with special needs. As always, prayers for OUR President W, a man in need of many prayers so please, put him on your prayer list and, lastly, for the elderly, we keep him on our prayer list. Have a good day.

Singapore Yank in now Mr. Milliner

Correction. It's Mr. Mulliner.

Good morning to both of you. I'm waiting for the four ladies in my life to finish in our one bathroom so I can get a shot at it before going to church. Hope your day is going well.
