Historically, I think a divided government leads to high stocks.

Gridlock can be seemingly good.

Markets love deadlock in DC.

Frankly, it might be best case scenario.

True, but I was expecting a big drop initially.

“Historically, I think a divided government leads to high stocks.”

Don’t know if that tracks if the opposition takes both chambers? Either way, this gives an indication of how we got a huge win for the DSA. Morons don’t understand they are targets of the DSA.

True also, but I think the democrats will nuke the filibuster in a heartbeat to break any gridlock!

Sold a year’s worth of stock for cash.

This won’t end well.

Did all stocks rise, or just the ones that benefit the most from government contracts?

Who would have thought people would believe that killing data centers and AI would be good for tech stocks or trying to create new regulations and corporate taxes would be great for businesses in general?

But, actually, I think what’s really going on here more than anything else is that a lot of traders probably believe that the Iran War is going to end soon. I kind of doubt it will, but the market has been pretty reactive to the war all along and I think a lot of people are willing to bet on it stopping or sputtering out soon.

I 100% agree. Also, sometimes the stock market likes the end of uncertainty. Even if it means the bad news we expected is eventually formalized, once it's here we quit dreading it, we adapt, and move on (stocks go up).

It'll be interesting to see, however, how much the socialists impact this trend. If the Dims in Congress and some Dim governors actually start trying to implement even more socialism than we already have, will it mean an end to my small-cap value mutual fund usually outgaining my other funds (except for sector specific funds like my tech fund or energy fund)? Perhaps only the large-caps, the big boys, will keep rising because they'll be the ones who are buddy-buddy with Big Govt while the socialists stomp out their small-fry competition.

Everything across the board is rising.

Good selling opportunity

They do not have the ability to override a veto, the filibuster is meaningless. I triple dog dare them to end it. As others have said above, business doesn’t like Dems or Repubs, they like a gridlocked DC. It provides a weird sort of stability.

This is normal. Markets don’t like uncertainty. The uncertainty of the election has been lifted... one way or the other doesn’t matter.

Well, they assume the stupid tariff nonsense, which should have ended well over a year ago, will stop. Trump stupidly added uncertainty to the market with the never-ending tariffs on trading partners.

Think about it … We now have a President, Senate majority leader and House Speaker who are all from New York City.

Wall Street now officially owns Washington. You’re going to see big-government corporate fascism like you’ve never seen before.

Not everything is rising. SpaceX and Tesla stock are cratering. Everyone knows the Dems are going to go after Elon. Success and dissent must be punished.

2028 is the bellwether for the stock market. If the dims sweep, I expect it to radically decline. Listen to them when they say they will pack the SC, raise taxes, regulate everything, install medicare for all and get rid of petroleum for fuel.
