PepsiCo just made a huge recall of its popular sports drink Gatorade.
The FDA announced PepsiCo recalled nearly 122,000 cases of Gatorade over “undeclared dyes.”
The FDA further noted that the exposure to the recalled drinks could result in “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”
CBS News reported more on the recall and revealed what states have been impacted:
PepsiCo has recalled roughly 122,000 cases of Gatorade sold across the U.S. because the product contains undeclared dyes, the Food and Drug Administration said in a notice.
The recall affects cases with 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero that were sold in 37 states. The FDA said the beverages contain undeclared Yellow No. 6 and/or Yellow No. 5, artificial dyes that affect the product’s color.
PepsiCo initiated the recall on Sept. 25. On Oct. 2, the FDA updated the recall to Class II, which means that exposure to the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” according to the regulatory agency.
The cases of Gatorade were sold in Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
The recall number is H-0009-2027.
While PepsiCo is announcing recalls, Coca-Cola has just announced it will be launching new flavors.
USA Today revealed what new flavors Coca-Cola will soon release:
Coca-Cola will launch two new flavors of its standard beverage in 2027 – Coca-Cola Cherry Lime and Coca-Cola Strawberry Float.
The Cherry Lime flavor will launch in February 2027 and blends the “classic cherry flavor consumers know with a bright lime twist,” according to the company. Strawberry Float will launch in the summer of 2027, the company told USA TODAY, and blends Coca-Cola’s standard flavor with strawberry and creamy vanilla notes. Both flavors will be available in both full sugar and zero sugar varieties.
Additionally, the company is conducting a “regional test-and-learn” for prebiotic versions of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar and Fresca. Each beverage contains six grams of prebiotic fiber and zero sugar, according to the company.
The prebiotic sodas will be available in a limited basis across parts of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania beginning in late October 2026.
What other Coca-Cola brands are getting new flavors?
The company told USA TODAY Powerade is adding Watermelon and Lemon Lime Zero Sugar to its flavor lineup in January 2027 while Mr. Pibb is adding a limited-time flavor, Mr. Pibb Black-Current, in spring 2027. The flavor is described by the company as a “berry-forward” offering featuring blackberry and black currant flavors and 54 mh of caffeine.

“Naturally, we call our stuff gator aid”.
It’s still around here in some places, NW Florida........
“...and 54 mh of caffeine” ?
54 millihenries ?..........
I want to know what these “temporary” and “medically reversible” effects are.
I have semi-frequently purchased some of the drinks on that list and my state is on that list!
The description of the effects are annoyingly devoid of specifics or symptoms.
BRAVE AI:
The recall number H-0009-2027 refers to a voluntary Class II recall initiated by PepsiCo on September 25, 2026, and classified by the FDA on October 2, 2026. This action involves 122,000 cases (approximately 2.9 to 3.4 million bottles) of 28-ounce Gatorade products distributed across 37 states.
The affected products include:
Gatorade Lemon Lime
Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero
Gatorade Orange
Gatorade Orange Zero
These specific bottles contain undeclared Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 artificial dyes. The recall covers bottles with lot codes ending in dates ranging from April 18, 2027, to June 8, 2027. The FDA designated this as a Class II recall, indicating that exposure may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, such as mild rashes or allergic-type asthma, particularly in individuals with aspirin allergies, while the probability of serious harm is considered remote.
I duckduckgo’d it.
“Some people may have sensitivities to these dyes and could potentially suffer an allergic reaction.”
I haven’t dyed (pun intended) of anaphylactic shock yet, so good news.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Good ‘ol Dr. Cade.
I like the cucumber and lime flavor Gatorade.
Very refreshing over ice on a hot summer day.
Thanks for posting. I drink the Reduced Sugar Gatorade sometimes. No adverse effects yet. Health BUMP!
Just those?
😆.........................
“We’re all gonna dye.”
I never understood the fascination with Gatorade.
To me it smells and tastes just like Windex Glass Cleaner.
I’m thinking at least two generations of American school athletes grew up being told to drink Gatorade to ‘replenish electrolytes lost during high physical activity”, is what they are told, so most believe it, and will advise other athletes to do the same.
My housemate's doctor recommended it because the potassium ions in it prevent her from getting painful leg cramps at night.
