Citadel Cadet Dustin Rose, childhood best friend Samson Campbell gunned down by 17-year-old Keyan Rundell in Florida
===============================================================
A Citadel cadet and South Carolina Army National Guard member and his childhood best friend were gunned down in a vacant Florida lot by a 17-year-old killer last week.
Citadel cadet Dustin Rose and his childhood friend Samson Campbell were fatally shot in DeLand, Florida, last Wednesday night.
Samson Campbell came home to DeLand to mourn his family’s dog who recently died. Dustin Rose joined Campbell to spread the dog’s ashes.
The two young men were fatally shot at an industrial park and their bodies were found at 10:40 pm.
The suspect, 17-year-old Keyan Rundell was on the loose for a week before he was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Rundell has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
Investigators are still trying to determine a motive.
WCIV reported:
The 17-year-old suspect wanted for the double homicide, killing a Citadel cadet and another teenager, has been arrested, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Keyan Rundell, 17, was taken into custody without incident in Manatee County and is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the July 29 deaths of Dustin Rose, a 19-year-old Citadel Cadet, and 18-year-old Samson Campbell, 18, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 10:40 p.m. July 29 to a report of two deceased people at a vacant industrial property in downtown DeLand. Investigators identified Rundell as a person of interest by the following afternoon after reviewing surveillance footage from the scene.
Authorities said a search warrant executed Saturday night led investigators to clothing and an e-bike they believe Rundell was using on the night of the killings, along with digital evidence that allegedly tracked his movements after the deaths. Rundell was not at the location when the warrant was served.
Law enforcement on Wednesday afternoon announced the arrest of 17-year-old Keyan Rundell.
Fox News reported:
A Citadel cadet and South Carolina Army National Guard member is one of two young men found shot to death in a vacant Florida lot, with police still hunting for a suspect.
The DeLand Police Department in Florida said Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, were found dead on Wednesday around 10:40 p.m. Rose and Campbell have been friends since they were children.
Rose, who attended The Citadel Military College of South Carolina, was home on break while pursuing his childhood dream of serving in the military. According to FOX 35, Rose recently became a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.
Campbell, who’s originally from DeLand, was living with his aunt Karen Chobin in the Chicago area. Chobin said Campbell was in town to mourn the death of his family’s 8-year-old dog, who recently died, and was staying with Rose’s grandparents.
Rose was in DeLand to help Campbell spread his dog’s ashes, Chobin said.

Second degree? Makes you wonder what happened before the shooting.
If the races were reversed this is all you would hear on the mainstream media.
where’s furry?
I’d like his organs for others.
His blood could be helpful, too.
Murderous little bastard will be back on the streets in a couple of years...
Instead of banning guns they should ban tarantula hair.
How long until Keyon’s parents hit the ghetto lottery on a GoFundMe account….
There was no reason, just hate. That hate needs to finally be answered without quarter.
“ Second degree? Makes you wonder what happened before the shooting.”

Prosecutors routinely INITIALLY charge killers with lower charges and then later up the charges to a more serious felony. Be aware of that before you make victim blaming inferences. Just sayin’.
I bet sooner. Much sooner.
The word "ambush" in the title is probably a hint.
Two decent young men murdered by a filthy worthless piece of garbage. What a sad state of affairs our world is in.
As he is under 18, the Death Penalty is off the table. However he can get life without possibility of parole...............
indeed ... it requires additional complex evidence to prove premeditated murder, so it’s EXTREMELY common to initially charge obviously provable offenses, and then up the cjharges once additional evidence is obtained ...
“tarantula hair” does seem to drive them loco.
Correct. Not only is the investigation still underway, but prosecutors find that it is easier to explain to families of victims a decision to raise murder charges than to lower them, which often looks like a loss or a retreat.
motive? the victim was white and the punk thug was black. that is all the motive needed anymore.
